Technical Manager
An established and growing manufacturer in the rigid packaging industry is seeking a Technical Manager to lead the technical development of a newly launched closure manufacturing platform. This is a newly created, high-impact role supporting the startup of advanced compression molding equipment for caps and closures in a state of the art facility.
The organization has extensive experience in injection molding and blow molding and is expanding into high-cavity compression molding technology to produce bottle closures and caps for major beverage brands. This role will be instrumental in building internal expertise, supporting customers, and developing a high-performing compression molding team.
Location: This role is based in the Southeastern United States. While the position may be advertised in multiple cities for visibility, the primary work location is in the Southeast. Full relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the technical authority for compression molding of caps and closures
Lead startup, optimization, and continuous improvement of new high-cavity compression molding systems
Develop process parameters for closure production (preforms, bottles, and closures)
Build and mentor a compression molding technical team
Provide technical troubleshooting support to customers
Interface with capper and filling line operations to ensure closure performance
Collaborate with quality, engineering, and customer service teams
Manage root cause analysis related to closure application and performance
Establish best practices for compression molding processes and equipment
Qualifications
7+ years of experience in compression molding of closures and caps
Strong technical knowledge of closure design, cap application, and quality standards
Experience with high-cavitation molding systems preferred
Background in injection molded caps and closures will also be considered
Hands-on troubleshooting experience in a production manufacturing environment
Experience supporting bottlers, beverage packaging, or filling operations
Strong understanding of capper systems and closure performance in the field
Proven ability to build and lead technical teams
Technical Manager, Senior Process Engineer, SME, or Key Engineering background preferred
