Technicians will travel to multiple data center locations to support scheduled maintenance windows and live cutover activities.\n\nThis is an excellent opportunity for professionals who thrive in structured environments, enjoy travel, and take pride in precision, quality, and teamwork.\n\nWork Location & Travel\n\nData centers are located nationwide\n\nPrimary base states include: MO, FL, NC, TX, AZ, MA, VA, AL, LA, GA, MN, OH, MI, WI, IA, SC\n\nTechnicians will travel to assigned data center sites as needed\n\nTypical travel duration is 3–5 days at a time , depending on scope of work\n\nTravel generally begins Sunday afternoon for maintenance window work\n\nCore Technical Responsibilities\n\nRead and interpret network diagrams, cut sheets, patching schedules, and MOPs\n\nIdentify and work with copper and fiber cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, multimode and single‑mode fiber)\n\nPerform terminations on jacks, patch panels, and fiber enclosures to specification\n\nApply accurate labeling and documentation aligned with design and as‑built standards\n\nUse test and validation tools (certifiers, OTDRs, light meters, toners) to verify connectivity\n\nTroubleshoot Layer 1 issues including opens, shorts, reversals, crosstalk, and fiber contamination\n\nCutover & Migration Support\n\nExecute cutover activities by strictly following approved Methods of Procedure (MOPs)\n\nPerform patching and de‑patching tasks in the correct sequence within maintenance windows\n\nVerify end‑to‑end paths (MDF–IDF–rack–port) prior to changes\n\nSupport rollback procedures when validation fails\n\nCoordinate live testing with network engineers (connectivity, throughput, failover)\n\nStandards & Quality\n\nFollow TIA/EIA and BICSI structured cabling best practices\n\nMaintain proper bend radius, cable support, separation from power , and pathway usage\n\nDress racks neatly using Velcro, manage slack appropriately, and preserve airflow\n\nAdhere to site‑specific standards for labeling, color codes, and cable management\n\nOperational & Safety Expectations\n\nFollow all job site safety requirements , including PPE, ladder/lift use, and confined space rules\n\nManage time effectively to meet milestones during tight maintenance windows\n\nMaintain accurate redlines and as‑built documentation during and after cutovers\n\nCommunication & Collaboration\n\nCommunicate clearly with network engineers, NOC teams, project managers, and on‑site staff\n\nEscalate issues promptly with concise, accurate status updates\n\nRemain calm and professional during outages or unexpected challenges\n\nRequired Qualifications\n\nProven experience in Layer 1 structured cabling within data center or enterprise environments\n\nHands‑on experience supporting network cutovers or migrations\n\nStrong understanding of cabling standards and documentation practices\n\nAbility to work nights, weekends, and extended maintenance windows as required\n\nU.S. citizenship required\n\nAbility to pass background checks for carrier and data center access\n\nWillingness to obtain NERC compliance upon onboarding\n\nPreferred Skills\n\nData center cutover or large‑scale migration experience\n\nFamiliarity with multi‑vendor environments\n\nStrong attention to detail and procedural discipline\n\nComfortable working in high‑pressure, live‑network environments\n\nEqual Opportunity Statement\n\nWe are committed to creating an inclusive and respectful workplace.
