Your focus will be on wildfire risk analysis, environmental monitoring, and asset vulnerability evaluation to minimize wildfire ignition risks and safeguard life, property, and critical infrastructure.\n\nThe responsibilities for this role include:\nSupport development and implementation of the utility’s Wildfire Mitigation Plan (WMP) and Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS).\nMonitor and analyze weather conditions (wind, temperature, fuel sources, humidity, drought indices) that contribute to wildfire ignition risk.\nAssist with evaluation of operational thresholds for de-energization, providing technical analysis and recommendations to senior staff.\nConduct continuous ongoing monitoring of weather circumstances, fuel sources, and right-of-way conditions impacting utility infrastructure.\nSupport wildfire response activities by providing technical data and situational awareness during events.\nIdentify potential ignition sources, fire spread risks, and exposure vulnerabilities affecting utility assets.\nUse wildfire risk modeling tools and datasets to support risk analysis and mitigation planning.\nParticipate in post-incident reviews and assist with the development of corrective actions and lessons learned.\nAssist with inspections, audits, and documentation required by Fire Commissions and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).\nTrack compliance items, corrective actions, and supporting documentation.\nSupport regulatory reporting related to fire protection and wildfire mitigation activities.\nAssist in the development and maintenance of emergency response plans, evacuation procedures, and wildfire response protocols.\nSupport coordination with internal operations teams and external fire agencies during planning, exercises, and incidents.\nParticipate in emergency drills, wildfire simulations, and readiness activities.\nApply basic understanding of Incident Command System (ICS) principles during response activities.\nPrepare technical memoranda, risk assessments, and supporting documentation for wildfire programs.\nCommunicate findings and recommendations to operations staff and project teams.\nCollaborate with engineering, operations, safety, environmental, and planning groups to support integrated wildfire risk management.\n\nWhat Will You Need:\n\nEligibility to work in the US without sponsorship.\nValid driver’s license with a clean driving record.\nBachelor’s degree in Forestry, Fire Science, Environmental Science, Meteorology, or a related field.\n5–8 years of experience in fire protection engineering, wildfire mitigation or risk management.\nExperience supporting fire protection design reviews, inspections, or wildfire mitigation activities in an electric utility environment.\nWorking knowledge of wildfire behavior, fire science, and emergency response fundamentals.\nAbility to work independently and in collaborative teams.\n\nWhat We Offer:\nAt McCall-Thomas, we offer employees the chance to work with great people on exciting projects, with the opportunity for growth.
