Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.QUALIFICATIONSEducation/Certification:Bachelor's degree from accredited universityValid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assignedKnowledgeable in all phases of Agriculture Science.Special Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of subject(s) assignedGeneral knowledge of curriculum and instructionAbility to instruct students and manage their behaviorStrong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills5 years or more experience in Welding backgroundMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIESInstructional StrategiesDevelop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the district's curriculum program requirements and provide written evidence of preparation as required.Prepare lessons that accommodate differences in student learning styles.Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect the learning styles and needs of assigned students.Conduct assessments of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).Use technology to strengthen the teaching and learning process.Cooperate with other staff members to plan and implement instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.Student Growth and DevelopmentHelp students analyze and improve study methods and habits.Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.Be a positive role model for students and support the mission of the school district.Assist students in the shop or Ag farm with their SAE (Supervised Agricultural Experience) projects during their assigned SAE period.Classroom Management and OrganizationManage student behavior in the classroom and administer discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations, student code of conduct, and IEP.Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.CommunicationEstablish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.Professional Growth and DevelopmentParticipate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.Demonstrate interest and initiative in professional improvement.Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.OtherPerform all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or others.Perform other related duties as assigned.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESSupervise assigned teacher aide(s).WORKING CONDITIONSMental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Tools and equipment used include a personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; AED for P.E. teachers. Posture: prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting. Motion: frequent walking. Lifting: regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment. Environment: work inside or outside; regular exposure to noise.
