This role is intended for individuals who already have strong material handling skills and can successfully operate powered industrial trucks with limited practice or preparation.\n\nThis is a part-time temporary Caterpillar material handling role ideal for skilled material handlers who want flexible work, additional income, or the opportunity to support meaningful manufacturing work without committing to a traditional full-time schedule.\n\nWho may be a good fit:\n\nExperienced material handlers looking for part-time work or additional income\n\nMaterial Handlers who want flexible hours instead of a traditional full-time schedule\n\nRetired or semi-retired material handlers interested in staying active in the trade\n\nIndividuals returning to the workforce with prior material handling experience\n\nWhat you will do:\n\nAs a FlexWork Material Handler, your primary responsibility will be to support Caterpillar production by safely delivering material to appropriate locations ensuring right part, right place, right time, in the right quantity and quality using various material handling equipment including counterbalance, reach truck, picker, tug and turret machines. This may include:\n\nOrdering, picking, kitting, receiving, loading, unloading, and putting away material.\n\nPreparing and ensuring safe transport of material.\n\nUse Caterpillar systems and tools to accurately document material movement and transactions.\n\nIdentify, document, communicate and correct problems related to material movement, report discrepancies, and recommend solutions.\n\nProvide support for material handling initiatives, projects, and daily activities.\n\nWork with limited supervision\n\nMaintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.\n\nFollow all safety requirements, quality standards, and facility expectations.\n\nOur work environment requires:\n\nLimited exposure to welding fumes and noise levels of 85db or greater\n\nOperation of overhead cranes, jib cranes and hoists\n\nExposure to frequently changing temperatures\n\nExposure to magnets that may impact medical devices\n\nWork in awkward positions, including forward reach, lateral reach, squat, overhead reaching, twisting, and forward head and rotation of neck\n\nWork in tight spaces\n\nUse of hand tools including band cutters and box cutters\n\nRequired personal protective equipment: hearing protection, safety glasses, steel toed/metatarsal foot gear, bump camps and protective material handling equipment including safety/fall harness\n\nWhat you will have:\n\n3 months of experience in a logistics or warehouse environment\n\nAbility to read and follow work instructions, safety procedures, and quality standards.\n\nComfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing or production environment.\n\nAbility to work effectively with a team and communicate clearly on the production floor.\n\nAbility to work part-time hours and select available shifts through the FlexWork scheduling process.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nExperience operating powered industrial equipment including forklifts, reach truck, order picker, or counterbalance.\n\nExperience with inventory or material movement, transactions, systems and tools.\n\nPrevious experience in heavy equipment, structural fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial production.\n\nExperience working in a safety-focused, fast-paced, shift-based, or team-oriented environment.\n\nPhysical Requirements:\n\nAbility to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time\n\nAbility to perform repetitive operations\n\nAbility to lift up to 35 lbs.\n\nAbility to work at multiple heights\n\nWe are committed to ensuring a supportive and accommodating work environment for all employees.
