Today Forge is developing the technology to rapidly scale the deployment of nuclear fission.\nElectrical Engineer\nAs an electrical engineer at Forge, you'll be responsible for the electrical systems that monitor, control, and harness the power of Ember, our 25 MWe nuclear reactor. Electrical engineers at Forge serve as hardware experts across a tremendous range of power levels - from the milliwatt level output of flux sensors in the core to the megawatt level output of the turbine system. If designing actuators to manipulate control rods in a nuclear reactor core, building the sensing and instrumentation suite to measure neutron flux, and monitoring and controlling temperatures and pressures in a grid-scale steam turbine get you fired up, this is the right role for you.\nResponsibilities\nRapidly design, develop, and test highly reliable electronics and electrical systems for our reactor\nDrive electrical architecture, specification, and communication protocols\nCollaborate with peers from different systems to develop designs that balance cost, efficiency, and deployment logistics\nRun make vs. buy trades for the critical electrical systems of the reactor, including instrumentation and sensing systems and actuators such as control rod drive mechanisms\nDesign plant electrical systems to meet regulatory requirements and safety standards while still achieving radical cost and schedule reductions\nApply first-order hand calculations and empirical formulas to assess and iterate on your designs rapidly\nSupport the assembly of your hardware in the factory, witness your designs being brought to life daily, and watch them power an abundant, clean future\nBasic Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related technical discipline\n1+ years of engineering experience designing, analyzing, and building electrical hardware (internship and school projects experience qualify)\nPreferred Skills and Experience\nStrong interpersonal and collaborative skills, enthusiasm for problem solving, and desire to enable abundant clean energy\nExperience leading or working on an engineering competition team, i.e. Formula SAE, Baja SAE, Solar Car, Rocketry, Cubesat, or similar\nAbility to perform trade studies and make clear recommendations using first principles and engineering fundamentals even with partial information\nExperience working at a nimble engineering organization or in a highly technical position that required a scrappy, entrepreneurial manner to accomplish tasks with tight time or budget constraints\nDemonstrated excellence designing, validating, and deploying complex electrical systems\nExperience with signal conditioning interfaces for sensors such as pressure transducers, thermocouples. Experience with neutron flux sensors and gamma flux sensors preferred.\nExperience with electromechanical systems, actuators, and motors\nExperience designing high reliability electrical harnessing\nAdditional Requirements\nPosition will be based in the South Bay area of Los Angeles County and will require relocation if not already local. The position will be full-time in the office.\nAbility to work extended hours and weekends as necessary\nAbility to travel to reactor construction sites in other states as necessary\nCompensation and Benefits\nPay range:\nLevel I: $115,000.00 - $130,000.00/per year\nLevel II: $125,000.00 - $150,000.00/per year\nYour actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.\nBase salary is just one part of your total rewards package at Forge.
