Dietary Supervisor

Cottage Hospital is seeking an experienced and motivated Dietary Supervisor to support the daily operations of our Food & Nutrition Department. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing food production, supervising dietary staff, maintaining quality and sanitation standards, and ensuring efficient kitchen operations in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The Dietary Supervisor will work closely with the Food & Nutrition Director to coordinate production schedules, monitor inventory and equipment needs, maintain compliance with food safety regulations, and foster a collaborative, team-focused culture within the department. Key ResponsibilitiesSupervise and support dietary staff during daily food productionTrain, mentor, and develop team members while serving as a department resourceOpen and oversee daily production kitchen operationsAssign production teams and establish daily prioritiesMonitor workflow efficiency, food quality, cleanliness, and organizationEnsure meals are prepared accurately and within designated timeframesAssist with inventory oversight and communicate supply or equipment needsMaintain proper sanitation, storage, and food safety standardsLead daily staff meetings and provide clear communication regarding production expectations and special instructionsCollaborate with the Food & Nutrition Director regarding production flow, ordering needs, and staffing efficiencySupport departmental and hospital safety procedures and emergency protocolsParticipate in meetings, trainings, and additional assignments as needed QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredCulinary, hospitality, or vocational/technical training preferredMinimum 3 years of experience as a cook in a healthcare, catering, hospitality, restaurant, or similar culinary environmentPrior supervisory or leadership experience in a kitchen or food service department preferredServSafe certification and Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification preferred or ability to obtainStrong leadership, communication, organization, and multitasking skillsAbility to work collaboratively in a team-oriented healthcare environment Physical RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periodsAbility to push, pull, lift, or carry up to 50 pounds At Cottage Hospital, we value teamwork, compassion, and service excellence while supporting the health and wellbeing of our patients, residents, staff, and community.
