The Project Cost Analyst supports the financial and cost-control functions of construction projects, working under the direction of the Project Controller and/or Project Manager. This role focuses on accurate cost tracking, data entry, reporting, and forecast support to help maintain budgetary control and project efficiency. The Project Cost Analyst assists in monitoring labor, material, equipment, and subcontract costs, and collaborates with Project Controllers, Project Managers, Site Supervisors, and Finance teams to ensure timely, accurate financial data and reporting.\n\nWhat You'll Do:\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nCost Tracking & Data Entry\n\nMonitor and record actual project costs, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor invoices, ensuring accuracy and proper coding.\nEnter and maintain cost data in Ecosys and other financial management systems in a timely and accurate manner.\nReconcile cost reports against budgets and flag discrepancies for review by the Project Controller.\nSupport weekly cost verification and financial postings.\nBudget & Forecast Support\nAssist in maintaining project budgets and cost breakdowns under the direction of the Project Controller or Project Manager.\nSupport Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) setup and updates in coordination with the project team.\nHelp compile cost-to-complete estimates and monthly forecast updates.\nTrack production and earned value metrics to support forecasting accuracy.\n\nReporting & Analysis\n\nPrepare routine cost reports, variance summaries, and production tracking reports for review by project leadership.\nProvide basic trend analysis comparing actual costs to budgeted amounts.\nSupport development of dashboards and reports used to communicate project performance.\nAssist with weekly and monthly reporting on cost and schedule performance.\n\nInvoice & Contract Support\n\nReview subcontractor and vendor invoices for accuracy, coding, and compliance with contract terms.\nAssist in tracking change orders and their financial impact.\nSupport monitoring of project cash flow, invoicing, and collections.\nCompliance & Audit Support\nAssist in maintaining compliance with company financial policies, internal controls, and accounting standards.\nSupport internal and external audits by preparing and organizing requested cost documentation.\nHelp monitor Accounts Receivable Aging Reports and retainage tracking.\n\nCollaboration & Communication\n\nWork closely with the Project Controller, Project Manager, Site Supervisors, and Finance/Procurement teams to ensure accurate data collection.\nParticipate in job review meetings, providing cost data and supporting analysis as needed.\nSupport RFQ and RFI processes by compiling financial data for project feasibility review.\n\nPhysical Demands:\n\nSit for extended periods of time\nUse hands and fingers to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment\nCommunicate effectively in person, by phone, and electronically\nStand and walk occasionally throughout the workday\nReach with hands and arms\nOccasionally lift and/or move items up to 20 pounds (e.g., files, office supplies, equipment)\nRead printed documents and view information on computer screens\nReasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.\n\nWhat You'll Bring:\n\nQualifications & Experience:\n\nBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).\n1-3 years of experience in cost analysis, project accounting, construction finance, or a related support role.\nFamiliarity with earned value management (EVM) and project cost tracking principles preferred.\nWorking knowledge of construction accounting principles and budgeting concepts.\nProficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP);
