Dean of Students

Job Summary:Under the direction of the Building Principal, the Dean of Students will oversee student academic progress, ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment, developing and implementing school programs and practices, and addressing student behavioral issues.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Provide data to the administration and the Student Support Team (SST) weekly to monitor school and student progressConduct bullying investigationsProcess Educator Handbook referralsCollaborate with the school community to ensure a safe and healthy school climate and cultureProactively engage with students to promote strong social-emotional relationshipsImplement and model Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports with students and adultsRe-engage students in the classroom learning environment to ensure minimal time lost on learningAssist in the selection, development, and implementation of programs and practices that develop student social and emotional learning and cultural competenceImplement and model Restorative Justice practicesServe as a liaison to community organizations to support student wellnessOther Duties and Responsibilities:* Maintain visibility throughout the school* Other duties as assigned by the Principal.Skills:Knowledge of Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS)Culturally competentFamiliarity with the current research pertaining to adolescent behaviorProficiently skilled at managing and de-escalating high-stress situationsRequired Qualifications:Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) Certification:School Counselor; School Adjustment CounselorPosition Type: Full-Time
