This role plays a critical part in ensuring product performance, safety, and compliance by leading prototype testing efforts and contributing to the transition from R&D to production in a fast-paced startup environment.Qualifications and RequirementsMinimum of 10+ years’ experience in test engineering, product validation, or related fieldExperience with prototype testing and transitioning products from development to production. Preferred background in fire protection systems, life safety equipment, or similar regulated industries.Experience testing electronic components and consumer appliance-type systems, including embedded or electromechanical productsProficiency in data analysis, instrumentation, and test automation tools.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specificationsFamiliarity with UL and FM certification processes, standards, and compliance requirements. Duties & ResponsibilitiesLead the development and execution of comprehensive test plans for prototype and pre-production systems, including functional, performance, environmental, and reliability testingDesign and implement test fixtures, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems for electronic components and integrated electromechanical productsAnalyze test data, identify failure modes, and drive root cause analysis and corrective actions in collaboration with cross-functional engineering teamsCollaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to support design for testability and transition from R&D to productionEnsure compliance with applicable regulatory and safety standards, including UL and FM certification requirements; interface with external test labs and certification bodies as neededDevelop and maintain detailed test procedures, protocols, and technical reports for internal and external stakeholdersMaintain a safe, organized, and efficient testing environment Disclaimer:The intent of this job description is to provide a summary of the typical functions and responsibilities of the job however, it is not an exhaustive or comprehensive list of all potential responsibilities, tasks and duties.
