This team is responsible for the entire life cycle of visual insights: from the underlying visualization framework (using technologies like React and Vega-Lite) to building advanced features like field variables, drill-downs, and AI-driven chart generation.\r\nYou will report directly to the Senior Manager of Engineering.\r\nThe Role Lead a Talented Team: You will lead a high-performing engineering team in Bellevue focused on revolutionizing how users visualize data with AI/BI Dashboards.\r\nTalent Development: You will oversee the sustained recruitment of top-tier frontend and visualization talent and foster a culture of mentorship and professional growth.\r\nStrategic Execution: You will build processes to implement the AI/BI product vision, focusing on BI Takeout initiatives to replace legacy tools with superior Databricks-native experiences.\r\nOperational Excellence: You will ensure the visualization platform is not only feature-rich but also high-performing, reliable, and easy to operate.\r\nTechnical Stewardship: You will manage technical debt (e.g., framework migrations, performance optimizations) while balancing an ambitious roadmap that includes agentic authoring and semantic model integration.\r\nWhat We Look For Frontend Expertise: 5+ years of hands-on experience in web frontend development, with a strong preference for React-based applications and modern state management (e.g., MobX).\r\nManagement Experience: 2+ years leading and managing high-performing engineering teams, ideally in a fast-paced product environment.\r\nVisualization Passion: A deep interest in data visualization, charting libraries (e.g., D3.js, Vega-Lite), or UX for complex data tools.\r\nEfficiency Driver: Proven ability to drive technical initiatives that improve team productivity, such as optimizing CI/CD runtimes or streamlining visualization frameworks.\r\nTalent Magnet: A strong track record of attracting, hiring, and retaining top engineering talent, including the ability to mentor engineers at various levels.\r\nCollaborative Leader: Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders including Product Management, Design, and AI Research teams to deliver agentic product experiences.\r\nAdaptability: Resilience in a rapidly evolving tech environment, with the ability to pivot priorities based on customer feedback and emerging AI capabilities.\r\nPay Range Local Pay Range: $180,500 — $247,000 USD\r\nOur Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion At Databricks, we are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive culture where everyone can excel.
