This role will have controls feature/functionality ownership and thus is expected to represent high competency in both control system engineering for embedded systems as well as BMS domain knowledge and capability.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:\nDevelop BMS controls and diagnostic algorithms to achieve desired functionality, robustness, and safety. Apply Model-Based-Development (MBD) methodology to design and implement control algorithms and translate into embedded software by leveraging code generation.\nApply structured test methodology in simulation-based environments to verify and validate algorithm design and implementation, in terms of functional behavior, performance, robustness, safety, compliance, and security.\nDrive testing and validation of developed control algorithms on software benches and battery cyclers leveraging CAN and embedded debugging tools.\nAnalyze functional, safety, and robustness expectations and perform systems engineering tasks to capture system design and behavior, establish requirements, create models to simulate requirements and system behavior, and contribute to analyses for functional safety, failure modes, and other relevant aspects.\nPerform all engineering tasks in defined lifecycle processes, methods, and practices, captured and managed in a system, building traceability between engineering phases and artifacts to ensure quality and compliance to ASPICE maturity and ISO26262 Functional Safety standards.\nEstablish and maintain comprehensive documentation of control strategy, implementation, testing, and application.\nCollaborate with other internal stakeholders and customers to put BMS strategies into operation.\nAs part of development activities, root-cause and solve issues that arise, and help drive continuous refinement.\nBuild technical subject matter expertise in BMS topics, actively participate in and contribute to technical reviews.\nParticipate in customer engagement, promotional, and sales activities.\nThis position will work as part of an agile engineering team, applying agile development methods and practices in a “DevOps” culture oriented to continuous delivery of value, continuous improvement, and speed of delivery.\nThe ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:\nApplication of quality-driven embedded Controls engineering for various applications, including automotive.\nComfortable with a fast pace of change, the ability to learn and adapt.\nPracticed ability to develop from a system perspective.\nAbility to work effectively in a cross-functional team.\nStrong communication ability – interpersonal, written, presentation, technical concepts and approaches.\nUnderstand customer issues, help root-cause, and suggest software improvements.\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\nMinimum, a B.S. degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science\nIn-depth experience in embedded control system development, ideally for automotive production-oriented applications. This experience should include analysis of requirements, derive control algorithm designs, and develop application software to satisfy desired behavior and performance.\nPreferred experience with high-voltage battery systems and specifically BMS control functionality for a range of end applications.\nPracticed understanding and capability in controls engineering concepts and methodology, including state-estimation techniques, algorithms, and robust control systems design.\nAbility to understand and translate the physics of a high voltage battery system to build models and develop controls around.\nProficient in Model-Based Development (MBD) of embedded control systems using MATLAB, Simulink/State-flow, and auto-code generation tools.\nWorking experience with C programming for embedded systems.\nFamiliar with testing and validation techniques using MIL/SIL/HIL tools.\nExperience with embedded controls and software development processes, methods, tools, and technology, preferably at the OEM or Tier1 level, including working in Application Lifecycle Management, Change Management, and Source Code Management systems.\nPreferred, experience with functional safety, in terms of developing embedded controls that are compliant to ISO26262.\nTroubleshooting vehicle system functional and diagnostic issues, determining and validating corrective actions and preventive measures.\nDisclaimer: Brooksource, Medasource, and Calculated Hire are part of the Eight Eleven Group family of companies and operate under Eight Eleven Group, LLC.
