It's a hybrid position where you will drive both technical delivery and NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) / Authority to Operation (ATO) execution for a cloud-based application.\nYou'll work directly with engineers and clients, ensuring the system is not only built correctly—but also secure, compliant, and ready for authorization.\nWhat You'll Be What You Will Be Doing\nYou'll play a central role in both engineering and compliance.\nLead the RMF/ATO lifecycle, including documentation, control implementation, and audit readiness\nDesign and guide development and enhancement of a secure, cloud-native application\nWork closely with engineers to ensure security is built into the development process, not added later\nSupport and mentor junior engineers, helping them grow into hybrid roles\nCollaborate directly with clients and stakeholders to navigate compliance requirements\nOversee deployments in cloud environments using Docker/Docker Swarm/Kubernetes\nHelp integrate security into CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices\nWhat We're Looking For\nThis role requires someone who has already worked in this space—not just studied it.\n7+ years of experience in software engineering, cybersecurity, or a related field\nDemonstrated experience with RMF / ATO execution (not just exposure)\nStrong understanding of NIST frameworks (e.g., 800-53)\nExperience building applications using:\nNode.js / TypeScript / JavaScript\nC#\nModern front-end frameworks (Vue.js or similar)\nExperience working in AWS and/or Azure environments\nSolid understanding of databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis)\nHands-on experience with Docker and containerized deployments\nAbility to communicate effectively with both technical teams and clients\nWhat Will Set You Apart\nExperience working in federal, DoD, or regulated environments\nBackground in leading RMF/ATO efforts or accreditation strategy\nExperience with microservices architectures\nFamiliarity with DevSecOps tooling and automated compliance\nClearance Type: Able to obtain a security clearance\nPosition Type: Full time\n\nApplied Training Solutions, LLC is a leading simulations company providing innovative systems, products, and solutions to government and commercial customers.\nApplied Training Solutions, LLC is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
