This role ensures the safety of workers, motorists, and pedestrians by maintaining proper traffic control and following all safety guidelines and regulations. As a Traffic Control Apprentice, you will be our front line for safety.\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:\nControl vehicle and pedestrian traffic around work zones using handheld signs, paddles, or flags\nSet up, maintain, and remove temporary traffic control work zones including signs, barricades, and cones according to project requirements and regulations\nCommunicate clearly with drivers to provide guidance and ensure safe traffic flow\nMonitor traffic and construction activity to anticipate and respond to potential safety hazards\nCoordinate with supervisors and other team members using hand signals, radios, or other communication equipment\nAdhere to all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)\nWarn workers when approaching vehicles fail to heed signals to prevent accidents and injuries\nAssist with loading/unloading traffic control equipment as needed\nPerform other work-related duties as assigned\nREQUIREMENTS/ QUALIFICATIONS:\nBeing a Team Player.\nMust have full time availability.\nUnderstand and apply safe traffic control practices, sometimes in stressful situations.\nAbility to receive and communicate instructions clearly, firmly and courteously.\nStrong attention to detail and focus.\nKeep a reliable and professional demeanor at all times.\nAble to stand for extended periods (8+ hours) while maintaining focus.\nBe 18 years of age or older.\nMust be willing to submit a drug screen.\nMust have a valid driver's license AND also reliable transportation.\nAble to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.\nAbility to work in all weather conditions.\nHave a high school diploma or equivalent preferred.\nTraffic control/ Flagger Certification (Provided by the company).\nEXPERIENCE:\nNo prior experience required; traffic control experience preferred.\nWilling to learn and follow safety procedures.\nWORK ENVIRONMENT:\nOutdoor work environment in and around construction zones\nExposure to traffic, loud noises, and construction equipment\nTravel to different work sites\nSafety is more than a priority—it’s the foundation of our mission at American Flagging.
