Hours will vary based on business needs, making this an excellent opportunity for someone seeking supplemental consulting work or a flexible part-time engagement.\n\nWhat You'll Do\nDatabase Administration & Reliability\n\nManage and maintain enterprise SQL Server environments to support business-critical applications.\n\nInstall, configure, maintain, patch, and upgrade SQL Server environments.\nPerform routine database maintenance, including index rebuilds, integrity checks, and statistics updates.\nMonitor database health, storage utilization, alerts, and growth trends.\nManage database security, permissions, encryption, and access controls.\nPerformance Optimization & Troubleshooting\n\nEnsure optimal database performance and quickly resolve production issues.\n\nMonitor and tune database performance, queries, indexes, execution plans, CPU, memory, and I/O utilization.\nTroubleshoot complex production issues and perform root cause analysis.\nPartner with development teams to optimize database design and query performance.\nSupport deployments, releases, and schema modifications.\nHigh Availability & Disaster Recovery\n\nProtect critical systems through resilient architecture and recovery planning.\n\nDesign and maintain database backup and recovery strategies.\nTest restore procedures and validate recovery readiness.\nImplement and support high availability and disaster recovery solutions.\nSupport capacity planning and database scalability initiatives.\nAutomation & Process Improvement\n\nIncrease efficiency through automation and continuous improvement.\n\nAutomate recurring administration tasks using approved scripting and automation tools.\nImprove monitoring, reporting, and operational processes.\nSupport evolving infrastructure and technology initiatives.\nWhat You Bring\nSkill / Qualification Requirement Level\nExperience administering Microsoft SQL Server in enterprise environments Required\nStrong knowledge of T-SQL, stored procedures, indexing, backup and recovery, and query optimization Required\nExperience with high availability technologies and disaster recovery solutions Required\nProficiency with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and database monitoring tools Required\nUnderstanding of Windows Server administration, storage concepts, and database security Required\nExperience automating database administration tasks using PowerShell, SQL Server Agent, or similar tools Required\nAbility to troubleshoot complex production issues and communicate effectively with stakeholders Required\nExperience supporting multi-server enterprise environments Highly Desired\nExperience with hybrid cloud environments, Azure, SSIS, SSRS, or data warehousing concepts Highly Desired\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, related field, or equivalent experience Required\nWork Environment & Travel\nPrimarily remote work arrangement.\nMust be able to travel on-site to the Indianapolis area when business needs require support.\nVariable weekly hours based on project and support requirements.\nBackground screening required, including industry-specific compliance checks.\nWhy This Role Matters\n\nThis role is responsible for maintaining the stability, security, and performance of critical data systems that support day-to-day business operations.
