Work is reviewed by a senior level engineer for accomplishment of objectives.\nEssential Functions\nAssist in the preparation of requisitions for inquiry in support of purchasing equipment and materials.\nPrepares technical bid evaluations for equipment, materials, bulk material and subcontracts in cooperation with Procurement Department.\nObserves factory acceptance testing of equipment in cooperation with the Lead Engineer.\nPerforms engineering calculations and analysis as required by discipline.\nReviews one line diagrams, area classification and layouts as required by the discipline.\nReviews vendor drawings.\nAccepts both short and extended term assignments to the site, client’s office, etc. as may be requested by the Chief Electrical Engineer.\nADDENDUM: ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT\nDEPARTMENT FUNCTIONS-Electrical Engineering is a highly specialized group whose function is to provide design-engineering service covering:\nElectrical Distribution System Design – Develop the optimum electrical distribution system based upon desired reliability, maintainability, flexibility and cost.\nSystem Studies/Calculations – Perform calculations and analysis for the following studies: short circuit, arc flash, load flow, voltage drop, motor starting analysis, power factor correction, arc flash, load calculation, transient analysis, power system harmonics analysis and protective relay coordination.\nArea Classification – Determine the classification of hazardous (classified) locations for the selection and installation of electrical equipment.\nElectrical MCC & SWGR Building – Determine location, size and arrangement of major electrical equipment.\nStandards Specifications – Responsible for technical content of standards and preparation of specification including:\nPower Transformers\nGrounding Resistors\nSwitchgear (SWGR) / Motor Control Center (MCC)\nReactors and capacitors\nUninterruptible Power Systems\nVariable Speed drives AC &DC\nDisconnect Power switches\nElectrical heat tracing\nPrefabricated electrical buildings\nPower Generator\nConstruction Drawings – Approved for construction drawings and schedules:\nOne line diagrams\nBuilding plans and details\nArea Classification\nLighting plan and details\nCable Routing\nElectrical heat tracing\nGrounding /Lightning protection\nRaceway and cable schedule\nPefabricated electrical buildings\nControl Schematics and Wiring Diagrams\n#LI-RG1\nRequirements:\nQualifications\nTypically 2 - 6 years of proven engineering experience in oil and gas industry.\nKnowledge of computer systems in an engineering environment.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nEducation\nBachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering\nEIT Certification\nCompetencies\nResults oriented\nCustomer focused\nImpact and influence\nBusiness and people acumen\nStrong organizational skills to handle multiple projects at once\nWork Environment/Physical Demands\nWorking conditions are normal for an office environment.\nFrequent sitting and operating a computer.\nMust be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or office materials.\nMust be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally.\nPhysical demands requirements are at levels of those for sedentary work.\nGulf is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
