This position reports to the chief financial officer and will be responsible for a team of approximately 10 employees. The leader will be responsible for leading the accounting team and managing the company's accounting operations.Responsibilities Oversees, supports, and develops a shared services accounting team while driving efficiency & automation to keep up with the demands of a fast-paced growth (through acquisitions) business. Manages the accounting for areas including general ledger and accruals, including detailed analysis and reconciliation of all general ledger accounts, while ensuring compliance with US GAAP, local accounting requirements, and internal policies. Team leadership through managing talent, including motivating, coaching, training, and mentoring team members. Enthusiasm in working with a team. Streamlines, automates, maintains, and improves processes and internal controls. Enhances operational effectiveness and efficiency within the organization. Evaluate the team's processes and procedures; identify opportunities for process improvement and greater efficiency and advocate for change. Collaborate across departments with leaders. Assists the Corporate Controller in the monthly and annual financial closing processes. Supports the oversight and operations of the Accounting Department in a shared services model, which includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, and the general ledger team. Evaluates, develops, and improves department controls, systems, and procedures that increase accuracy and efficiency. Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures. Leads in identifying the training needs of the accounting staff and developing training programs to ensure minimal ramp-up time and continual development. Addresses employee performance issues and concerns professionally to maximize employee performance and satisfaction. Actively works to improve and maintain employee engagement and morale to increase retention and productivity. Supports producing periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles; understands all financial statements and provides analysis before and after the closing process; maintains timely and accurate account reconciliations. Provides financial analysis and recommendations as requested. Assists in managing the annual financial audit for completion by the deadline. Manages various tax and compliance activities, including sales and property tax audits.
