This role requires an engineer who is comfortable working across both hardware and software layers, supporting server infrastructure connected to custom physical hardware platforms.The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Linux system administration, hardware debugging, and scripting/automation, with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues at both the server and board level.Key ResponsibilitiesLinux Systems AdministrationAdminister, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise Linux-based systems in a datacenter environment.Monitor system performance, availability, and operational health of server infrastructure.Configure, optimize, and maintain Linux servers, services, and system resources.Support OS installation, patching, upgrades, and system recovery activities.Hardware Debug & System ValidationPerform hands-on debugging of server hardware and physical circuit board platforms.Diagnose and resolve hardware-level issues involving server connectivity, board communication, and system integration.Use diagnostic tools and lab equipment to identify root causes of hardware failures and performance issues.Support board bring-up, hardware validation, and troubleshooting activities.Hardware-Software IntegrationInvestigate and resolve issues spanning operating systems, firmware, drivers, and physical hardware.Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and software engineering teams to troubleshoot system integration issues.Analyze logs, kernel messages, and hardware diagnostics to isolate failures.Automation & DevelopmentDevelop automation scripts using Python for system management, diagnostics, and operational efficiency.Build tools for log analysis, health monitoring, and automated troubleshooting workflows.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.3+ years of experience in Linux system administration.Strong hands-on experience with hardware debugging and system-level troubleshooting.Experience working in datacenter or lab-based server environments.Strong scripting/programming skills in Python.Experience troubleshooting across hardware and software stacks.Preferred QualificationsExperience with server platforms, embedded systems, or custom hardware boards.Knowledge of firmware, device drivers, or low-level system interfaces.Experience with hardware diagnostic tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, or serial debug tools.Familiarity with networking, storage systems, or infrastructure automation.","company":"TPI Global Solutions","rawCompany":"tpi global solutions","city":"San Jose","state":"CA","isRemote":false,"isActive":false,"createdAt":"2026-05-06T08:52:26.606Z","occupations":[{"code":"15-1299.08","title":"Computer Systems Engineers/Architects","slug":"computer-systems-engineers-architects"},{"code":"15-1244.00","title":"Network and Computer Systems Administrators","slug":"network-and-computer-systems-administrators"},{"code":"15-1211.00","title":"Computer Systems Analysts","slug":"computer-systems-analysts"}],"industries":[{"code":"541512","title":"Computer Systems Design Services","slug":"computer-systems-design-services"},{"code":"518210","title":"Computing Infrastructure Providers, Data Processing, Web Hosting, and Related Services","slug":"computing-infrastructure-providers-data-processing-web-hosting-and-related-services"},{"code":"334111","title":"Electronic Computer Manufacturing","slug":"electronic-computer-manufacturing"}],"jobPosting":{"@context":"https://schema.org","@type":"JobPosting","title":"Linux System Engineer","description":"Role OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled Linux Systems & Hardware Debug to support a complex datacenter infrastructure environment.
