We are Builders: We respect the work we do and everyone who helps make it happen safely.Position SummaryThe Plumbing Superintendent is a critical field leadership role responsible for overseeing plumbing construction activities in the field and ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards. This role works closely with the Project Manager and field leadership to coordinate crews, trade partners, and project execution.ResponsibilitiesAssist in development of detailed CPM schedules with emphasis on plumbing procurement, rough-in, above ceiling work, fixture installation, testing, and turnover milestonesAssist in development of detailed scope of work for commercial plumbing systemsDevelop and maintain project site logistics plans related to plumbing material deliveries, equipment staging, and installation sequencingMaintain a thorough understanding of contract documents, plumbing drawings, specifications, coordination drawings, and project requirementsManage the mechanical labor force and/or coordinate trade foremen to achieve optimum performance on plumbing scopesReview and understand material and equipment budgets for plumbing materials and equipmentMonitor project costs, labor productivity, and installation performance; identify areas for improvementProvide leadership in the quality process for plumbing systems, including underground, rough-in, top-out, fixture installation, testing, and turnover readinessProvide leadership in safety and accident prevention programs for all plumbing field activitiesDocument daily construction activities related to plumbing progress, manpower, deliveries, issues, and inspectionsChair or support weekly subcontractor and trade coordination meetings with focus on plumbing interfaces and sequencingIssue and maintain long and short-term schedules for plumbing work activitiesAssist Project Engineers in the shop drawing and submittal process for plumbing materials, equipment, and related systemsVerify that as-built drawings and field markups for plumbing systems are kept currentImplement all applicable safety programs and EEO/Affirmative Action programsCoordinate plumbing work with other trades including HVAC, electrical, fire protection, civil, and general trades to reduce conflicts and maintain production flowLead field execution for underground piping, waste and vent systems, domestic water, storm systems, equipment connections, and final turnover of plumbing systemsSupport inspections, testing requirements, punch list completion, and owner turnover documentation for plumbing systemsHelp identify and resolve field issues related to constructability, installation sequence, manpower planning, and system completionQualifications7–10+ years of applicable field leadership experience in plumbing, mechanical, or MEP construction field operationsExperience with relevant large-scale commercial or industrial projectsPrevious experience directing and coordinating plumbing tradesStrong knowledge of plumbing systems, construction principles, field practices, code requirements, and sequencing requirementsExperience leading installation of underground piping, waste and vent systems, domestic water, storm systems, and plumbing fixturesSelf-perform construction management experience highly preferredPrevious experience working closely with Project Management teams through successful completion of project phasesAbility to read and interpret plans, specifications, shop drawings, and coordination documentsStrong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skillsDemonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and production performanceExperience with self-perform plumbing workExperience coordinating inspections, testing, startup support, and turnover processesExperience working in occupied facilities, complex phasing environments, or technically challenging plumbing projectsFamiliarity with field technology, scheduling tools, and construction documentation platformsStrong field presence and ability to lead crews and foremen effectivelyAbility to coordinate across multiple trades and maintain schedule commitmentsConsistent focus on safety, quality, planning, and accountabilityAbility to anticipate issues, solve problems in the field, and drive work to completionMcCarthy is proud to be an equal opportunity employer, including disability and protected veteran status.NOTICE TO EXTERNAL SEARCH FIRMS: McCarthy’s Talent Acquisition Team is the only authorized representative permitted to engage with external search firms, staffing agencies, or other third-party recruiting partners.
