Network Security Engineer

Network Security Engineer 6 Month Contract (High likelihood of extension)Hybrid (Onsite 4 days a week)Charlotte, NCPosition Summary:The IT Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, administration, and support of enterprise network security and remote access solutions. This role provides technical expertise in Palo Alto firewalls, Prisma Access, Strata Cloud Manager, and GlobalProtect to ensure secure, reliable, and efficient network connectivity. The position also supports incident, service request, and change activities through Cherwell and/or Ivanti ticketing systems, while maintaining accurate documentation and adhering to established operational processes.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Administer, maintain, and support Palo Alto Networks firewalls in an enterprise environmentConfigure, manage, and troubleshoot Prisma Access and GlobalProtect remote access solutionsUtilize Strata Cloud Manager for policy administration, monitoring, reporting, and operational supportDiagnose and resolve network connectivity, firewall, VPN, and security policy issuesAnalyze logs, alerts, and traffic flows to identify root causes and implement corrective actionsImplement firewall policy changes, NAT updates, and security rule modifications in accordance with change management proceduresMonitor network and security infrastructure performance and recommend improvements to enhance reliability and securityRespond to incidents, service requests, and problem tickets using Cherwell and/or IvantiDocument technical issues, troubleshooting steps, root cause analysis, and final resolutions in the ticketing systemCollaborate with cross-functional IT teams, vendors, and business partners to support network operations and resolve escalated issuesParticipate in system maintenance, upgrades, patching, and after-hours support activities as requiredMaintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and knowledge articles related to supported systemsRequired Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experienceExperience supporting enterprise network and security environmentsHands-on experience with Palo Alto firewallsWorking knowledge of Prisma Access, Strata Cloud Manager, and GlobalProtectExperience troubleshooting network security, VPN, and connectivity issuesExperience using Cherwell and/or Ivanti ticketing systemsStrong understanding of TCP/IP, routing, DNS, DHCP, VPN technologies, and firewall policy managementAbility to analyze logs and system behavior to diagnose technical issuesStrong written and verbal communication skillsStrong organizational skills and attention to detailPreferred Qualifications:Palo Alto Networks certification(s)Experience in large enterprise or managed service environmentsFamiliarity with ITIL processes for incident, problem, and change managementExperience supporting cloud-managed security platformsKnowledge of network monitoring and reporting toolsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced technical environmentAbility to work independently and collaboratively within a team settingStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiencesCommitment to maintaining confidentiality, security, and operational standardsWorking Conditions:Primarily office-based or hybrid work environmentMay require after-hours, weekend, or on-call support based on operational needsMay require prolonged periods of sitting, working at a computer, and participating in virtual or in-person meetingsDisclaimer: Brooksource, Medasource, and Calculated Hire are part of the Eight Eleven Group family of companies and operate under Eight Eleven Group, LLC.
