Machine Shop Lead - Weekend shift

Job Description Alexandria, MN - 4th shift, Friday-Sunday, 7:00am-7:00pmESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe following description of work to be performed by this individual is not intended to be all-inclusive. Rather, it focuses on the major tasks that must be accomplished.Lead with Servant Leadership CharacteristicsModel and support the company’s vision and strategiesAlign with leadership on annual AI machine shop goalsEnsure that safety is always the number one priority at Alexandria Industries; promote and support a safe work environment and safety oriented culture by following all safety programs and guidelinesContinuously build relationships throughout the department and company in order to best serve and support co-workers and employeesEnsure other departments are informed of any delays or changes in the schedulesProvide leadership to department team members:Communicate priorities and project assignmentsImplement adequate cross-trainingWork with Supervisor to provide education, training and development opportunitiesProvide coaching to employees to support their growth within their position and the companyEnsure expectations and responsibilities are known and followedMonitor employee performance and assist with employee performance reviewsDelegate special projectsParticipate in the interviewing and selection process for department openings as neededIdentify and implement methods for reducing costs and expenses in the departmentReview and analyze department data and trends to make continuous improvement recommendationsApply continuous improvement techniques to improve department operationsKeep work area clean and orderly using 5S system (standardize, sustain, sort, set in order and shine)Set up and run equipment safely and efficiently in order to maximize output while meeting customer quality requirementsAccurately and efficiently fulfill customer orders:Review manufacturing orders in order to verify internal and external customer specificationsEnsure all quality practices are being followedPerform inspectionsPackage orders based on customer specificationsMeet delivery schedules to ensure customer service and satisfactionMonitor and make correct process changes for packing the product or changing ratesMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation:High school diploma or equivalent degreeAssociates degree in Machine Tool or other related program preferredExperience:2+ years of manufacturing experience required1+ years of leadership experience preferredOther required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Strong computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Ability to recognize safety concernsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to provide strong servant leadership to support team membersAbility to take part in continuous education and trainingAbility to maintain professionalism and composure in every situationStrong knowledge and understanding of all key department operationsKnowledgeable in companywide computer systems and programsAbility to utilize the proper inspection equipment per designated cell areaWork flexible hours, overtime and on-callAbility to lead and influence othersBlueprint readingStrong math skillsAbility to detect minor defects in the finish of the productAbility to read die drawings and inspect parts according to customer specificationsBENEFITSA.I.
