Support will also be provided to producibility studies, cost trades, design for long term operations and maintenance, and development planning activities.\n\nYour duties will include the design, manufacture, procurement and test for the propulsion system components and assemblies. This role requires coordinating with customers, suppliers, test facilities, and other related fields including manufacturing, subcontracts, quality, structure design, analysis, systems engineering, and integration with affected subsystems and facilities.\n\nOther Duties\n\nSubsystem Integration\n\nLead the conceptual development, requirements definition, and design of propulsion components\n\nDevelop product performance specifications, statements of work, and supplier data requirements for components\n\nMaintain engineering drawings, specifications, and technical analyses to support systems and components\n\nIndependently develop and provide design solutions, of varying complexity, using solid models, detailed drawings, and release of engineering work products\n\nIndependently review requirements, from various sources (instrumentation, dynamics, stress, systems, thermal, manufacturing, etc.) to ensure that applicable requirements are flowed into the detailed design of assigned products\n\nSupport production meetings and manufacturing & test anomaly/discrepancy resolution\n\nEvaluate, select, and own the technical aspects of the procurement from the selected hardware supplier\n\nProvide user documentation and recommendations to data packages to support peer and customer reviews, present analysis data to engineering teams, customer technical representatives, and Program Office personnel at technical interchange meetings and design review\n\nBasic Qualifications\n\nBachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related discipline or equivalent experience/combined education\n\nSolid understanding of Mechanical / Propulsion Engineering fundamentals including structures, mechanisms, propulsion systems and materials\n\nProgressive experience in the design, development, and/or integration of complex aerospace or defense systems\n\nProficiency in Microsoft Office applications\n\nAbility to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance - must be a U.S. Citizen\n\nWillingness to mentor junior engineers\n\nDesired Skills\n\nProficiency in industry standard CAD (Creo, Catia, AutoCad) software\n\nBachelor’s degree in related field with 10 years of professional experience; or 7 years’ experience required with a related Master’s degree\n\nProficient with fluid mechanics and analysis\n\nPropulsion component development and system integration experience\n\nExperience having responsibility for Electric Propulsion hardware and systems\n\nExperience developing Proposal documents and Basis of Estimates (BOE’s)\n\nFamiliar with design for Manufacturability (DFM)\n\nElectric Propulsion Flight Hardware Design experience including thrusters and power processing units\n\nExperience with supply chain management and subcontracts\n\nAbility to collaborate effectively with adjacent fields (systems engineering, electronics, stress/thermal analysis, configuration management, production, test, quality…)\n\nExcellent verbal/written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with technical and non-technical audiences\n\nSecurity Clearance Statement\nThis position requires a government security clearance, you must be a U.S. Citizen for consideration.
