These devices monitor hardware, control power electronics, communicate with cloud services, and respond to real-time grid conditions.Operating at the intersection of hardware and cloud software, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, build, and scale a safe, reliable, and highly observable platform deployed across thousands of field locations.Core ResponsibilitiesArchitecture & Development: Define and evolve the embedded software platform architecture. Lead firmware development interfacing with sensors, power electronics, communications modules, and safety systems.System-Level Collaboration: Partner with hardware, electrical, and cloud software engineering teams to co-design reliable systems and drive fleet-wide architectural decisions.Reliability & Lifecycle: Establish rigorous standards for system reliability, diagnostics, and observability. Design robust frameworks for over-the-air (OTA) updates and long-term device management.Technical Leadership: Identify and solve foundational technical problems impacting safety and scalability. Mentor engineers and elevate embedded engineering practices across the organization.Qualifications & RequirementsMinimum QualificationsExperience: 5+ years of experience in embedded software or firmware development.Languages: Deep expertise in C, C++, or Rust.Systems: Strong experience with microcontrollers, embedded Linux, or real-time operating systems (RTOS) interacting directly with custom hardware.Scale & Architecture: Proven track record of leading complex technical projects, designing for production hardware failure modes, and deploying software at scale.Mindset: First-principles thinker with a strong bias for action and cross-disciplinary collaboration.Preferred SkillsHardware Integration: Ability to read hardware schematics and datasheets; experience developing/debugging software on custom hardware.Ecosystem Expertise: Deep knowledge of the embedded Linux ecosystem (kernel configuration, driver development) and modern processor architectures (ARM, RISC-V).Domain Knowledge: Working knowledge of power electronics, energy storage systems, and industry safety/regulatory certifications (e.g., UL standards).Culture & Work EnvironmentThis is an intense, high-ownership startup environment that operates fully in-person.
