We aim to promote, celebrate, and educate the public about Japanese animation, manga, video games, and traditional culture.\r\nWe are currently looking for an Assistant Controller to join our team.\r\nThis position will\r\noversee the accounting functions\r\nis responsible for management and supervision of the accounting supervisor/manager, financial reporting and regulatory compliance\r\nresponsible for analyzing financial records and providing recommendations related to the financial health and business strategy of the organization\r\nwill work directly with the Senior VP of Accounting and Finance, and if the candidate shows initiative to learn and grow, there are growth opportunities in the department and organization\r\nMajor areas of Responsibility\r\nReview and analyze month-end, quarter end and year-end financial statements and other reporting items accurately and timely\r\nPrepare period-end financials included but not limited to Balance Sheet and Income Statements, in accordance to GAAP\r\nReview monthly closing journal entries and maintain reconciliations for balance sheet and income statement accounts\r\nStrategic analysis from regular analysis on specific General Ledger accounts, budget to actual reports, or reforecast to actual reports.\r\nPrepare annual and quarterly budget and reforecasts, respectively\r\nReview requirements for quarterly and annual budgets and reforecasts\r\nComply with regulatory reporting requirements. Include the review, submission and adherence to deadlines related, but not limited to annual financial statement review, taxes, regulatory reports and other audits\r\nReview the financial transactions during the convention(s)\r\nAssess, analyze and recommend internal controls on detection and effectiveness\r\nSupervise compliance through submissions and adhering to filing deadlines for sales tax, 1099's, tax return, etc.\r\nUpdates job knowledge by seeking and participating in educational opportunities\r\nDirect supervision or management of team members\r\nAttention to detail, thoroughness, organization.\r\nAbility to work amicably with a variety of personalities while maintaining professionalism.\r\nAbove average written and oral communication.\r\nInterpersonal sensitivity when communicating essential and necessary financial information to others.\r\nHigh adaptability to changing needs.\r\nHigh level of dependability without supervision.\r\nMaintain dependability during mandatory extreme overtime for Anime Expo.\r\nAdvanced knowledge of Excel is required, and Advanced QuickBooks is preferred.\r\nMust be able to perform required tasks at offsite convention(s), away from the SPJA office.\r\nWork Environment and Physical Demands\r\nThe duties of this position are performed indoors in a business/office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud during events and minimal during non-event times.\r\nDuring convention, this individual must have the ability to stand/walk for up to four hours at a time as there is constant walking required during the convention.\r\nLocation : This position will be working mainly from the corporate office in Corona and offsite for conventions and events.
