Under general supervision, you will perform technical analysis, design and development or enhancement of iOS applications and play an integral role in helping deliver increasingly smarter mobile apps to our users. We are looking for someone with strong interest in all things mobile and a passion for engineering high-quality, scalable solutions at the intersection of media and advertising.\n\nWhat Motivates You\n\nYou want to help bring our award-winning journalism to people every day.\n\nYou are passionate about learning mobile development, growing your skills, and delivering high-quality products.\n\nYou have opinions about leveraging the latest technology from Apple and other solution providers to enhance the news-reading experience.\n\nYou enjoy collaborating with colleagues across disciplines to solve problems and deliver new functionality.\n\nYou have opinions about what makes for a good native app experience.\n\nYou enjoy breaking down complicated problems into distinct workable pieces.\n\nHow You'll Support the Mission\n\nOwn the intersection of native ad format development, real-time bidding (RTB/header bidding) integration, and ad measurement on iOS.\nResearch and apply native advertising patterns proven out by leading iOS social and content apps (in-feed cards, native video units, sponsored content styled to match organic posts) to our own app surfaces.\nBuild and maintain measurement pipelines around ad viewability, click-through rates, and latency to support data-driven partnership decisions.\nServe as a subject matter expert on iOS privacy standards (ATT, app privacy and data practices) and modern iOS capabilities, advising advertising partners on platform constraints and opportunities.\nIdentify, troubleshoot, and solve complex problems, including those affecting ad display latency, battery usage, and app stability across a fragmented device ecosystem.\n\nThe Skills and Experience You Bring\n\nDesign and develop advanced applications for iOS and related platforms.\n\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to define API contracts, design and ship new features.\n\nDesign high-level mobile solutions to meet product requirements and following established development methodologies and standards.\n\nUnderstand the complexities of and help integrate different third-party SDKs\n\nIdentify, troubleshoot, and solve complex problems\n\nParticipate in agile software development practices and peer/code reviews.\n\nUnit-test code for robustness, including edge cases, usability and general reliability\n\nStay on top of latest technologies/ mobile trends and recommend appropriate design solutions.\n\nQualifications\n\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, engineering or related technical field or equivalent experience.\n\n3+ years of experience with the iOS SDK required; prior experience in a similar role preferred.\n\nStrong grasp of computer science fundamentals, operating systems, algorithms, data structure, design principles.\n\nExcellent verbal/written communication and collaboration skills.\n\nStrong problem-solving skills.\n\nExperience working with or prototyping with Apple SDKs\n\nExperience with Swift.\n\nExperience supporting advertising implementations like Google Ad Manager and Nimbus\n\nExperience leveraging AI tooling in the development process\n\nExperience with Version Control principles, preferably using Git and Pull Requests\n\nFamiliarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies\n\nExperience with testing and quality assurance practices including unit testing and code documentation.\n\nCollaboration makes us stronger.
