These products help our customers collect information crucial to our country’s security.\nThe position involves developing concepts into prototypes in a rapid development cycle. Each engineer is part of a project team through the entire cycle, from concept to field testing of prototypes. The computer engineer is a core part of the team responsible for circuit design, firmware, and system integration.\n\nProject teams include electrical, computer software, mechanical, and acoustic engineers as well as support staff. The teams work together to create innovative concepts and reliable implementations that focus on customer requirements. Computer Engineers contribute important sensing, control, signal processing, and communication functions to each project. The teams also interface with the customer and implementing their feedback is essential to our mutual success.\n\nEssential Functions*\nWork in project teams to solve technical problems with hardware/firmware design solutions\nTake hardware solutions from concept to prototype\nWrite embedded C code, with a focus on code reliability and clarity\nControl and document development with a version control system\nWork within existing design constructs when updating/optimizing existing designs\nTest and verify hardware/firmware through rigorous design verification testing and field testing\nReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.\nSupervisory Responsibility\nThis position does not have department or company supervisory responsibilities. However, supervision within projects may be expected and could include planning, organizing, assigning, and overseeing the technical work of other engineers and technicians while communicating regularly with the Project Managers / Project Engineers.\n\nCore Competencies\nThis is an entry-to-intermediate level position. The following capabilities are desired but not all are expected.\nCircuit Design Skills\nSchematic Capture and PCB layout experience (Altium Designer preferred)\nAnalog circuits. Audio frequencies is a plus\nPower electronics\nDigital electronics\nRF design experience is a plus\nEmbedded Skills\nARM-based microcontrollers, specifically STM32 family\nC language\nSoftware Skills, preferred\nWindows applications\nLinux applications\nC / C++\nPython\nSystems Skills\nData acquisition\nAudio / Acoustic\nRadio telemetry\nSensing systems\nUnderwater systems\nLeadership / Organizational Skills\nOrganization skills with a willingness to work as a team\nWritten and verbal communication skills with other engineers, technicians, administrative staff, and customers\nProject management\nTime management\nDefense contracts\nPosition Type/Expected Hours of Work\nThis is an on-site, full-time position, with a minimum expectation of 40 hours per week. Hours are somewhat flexible, and occasional extra hours may be required. This is a salaried, exempt position, however, if you are required to work 45 or more hours in a week, you will be compensated for all hours worked past 40 at your equivalent hourly rate.\nTravel\nSome travel is expected for field testing, vendor selections, and customer interface.\nEducation and Experience\nA bachelor’s degree or higher in computer engineering is required. Experience is desired, but recent graduates will be considered.\n\nRequirements\nSince a majority of SeaLandAire's business is funded by the U.S. Department of Defense, applicants must be a \"U.S. Person\" (U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident).\nA background check will be conducted for employment purposes.\nA U.S. government security clearance is not required but is very helpful.
