Production Lead - 2nd Shift (Hiring Immediately)
<h2>Production Leader- 2nd Shift</h2><p><strong>Location:</strong> Plymouth, MN<br /><strong>Job Type:</strong> Full-time, Direct Hire<br /><strong>Pay Range:</strong> $61,000 – $71,500 per year<br /><strong>Schedule:</strong> 3PM to 11PM, Monday through Friday</p><h3>Job Overview</h3><p>A growing plastics manufacturing company in the Minneapolis area is seeking a <strong>Production Shift Leader</strong> for 2nd shift to supervise and coordinate production team members during assigned shifts. This role is responsible for daily operations, team leadership, safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.</p><p>The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with experience in manufacturing operations, strong people skills, and a passion for safety, quality, and efficiency.</p><hr /><h2>Key Responsibilities</h2><h3>Leadership</h3><ul><li><p>Lead and supervise production and production support team members on assigned shift</p></li><li><p>Set expectations, communicate goals, coach performance, and support employee development</p></li><li><p>Coordinate and support training initiatives for shift personnel</p></li><li><p>Maintain strong floor presence and availability to resolve production, quality, or personnel issues</p></li><li><p>Enforce company policies, procedures, and discipline when necessary</p></li><li><p>Monitor and control departmental cost drivers</p></li><li><p>Promote teamwork through effective communication and positive leadership behaviors</p></li><li><p>Support and execute strategies to meet annual departmental goals</p></li></ul><hr /><h3>Quality</h3><ul><li><p>Promote, audit, and support established quality systems</p></li><li><p>Ensure compliance with documented procedures and work instructions</p></li><li><p>Partner with the Production Manager on corrective action investigations and resolutions</p></li><li><p>Train team members on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and ensure compliance</p></li></ul><hr /><h3>Safety</h3><ul><li><p>Enforce and promote safety policies and procedures</p></li><li><p>Lead incident investigations and corrective actions</p></li><li><p>Support and maintain 5S programs to ensure a clean and organized work environment</p></li></ul><hr /><h3>Production Operations</h3><ul><li><p>Meet daily production schedules and customer requirements</p></li><li><p>Troubleshoot machine and process issues using root cause analysis</p></li><li><p>Identify and implement cost savings and waste reduction opportunities</p></li><li><p>Review shift performance metrics (actual vs. standard) and collaborate with support teams to achieve targets</p></li><li><p>Plan and coordinate weekly staffing needs, including overtime, temporary labor, and PTO coverage</p></li><li><p>Prepare and submit production and performance reports</p></li></ul><hr /><h2>Minimum Qualifications</h2><ul><li><p>Associate degree in Supervisory Management or a related field <strong>and</strong> 2+ years of leadership experience<br /><strong>OR</strong></p></li><li><p>6+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing or production environment</p></li></ul><hr /><h2>Preferred Skills & Experience</h2><ul><li><p>Previous leadership experience in manufacturing (thermoforming or plastics preferred)</p></li><li><p>Strong leadership and team-building skills</p></li><li><p>Ability to learn and adapt to manufacturing equipment and processes</p></li><li><p>Experience working with formal quality systems</p></li><li><p>Hands-on knowledge of SPC</p></li><li><p>Experience with Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma principles</p></li><li><p>Strong problem-solving, prioritization, and time management skills</p></li><li><p>Excellent communication and listening skills</p></li><li><p>Proficiency with computers and common business software</p></li><li><p>Experience delivering training and coaching team members</p></li><li><p>Commitment to continuous improvement and personal development</p></li></ul><hr /><h2>Work Environment & Physical Requirements</h2><ul><li><p>Work performed in both office and manufacturing floor environments</p></li><li><p>Light to medium physical activity, including lifting up to 30 lbs when assisting operators</p></li><li><p>Ability to move freely throughout the manufacturing facility and around machinery<br /><br /> </p></li></ul>ABR Employment Services is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
