The candidate must have proven experience as a leader working with print media as well as digital. The candidate must be consistently flexible to restructure the publication as needed, adapt to any changes in content or advertising, and adhere to any special requests from clients or editorial. Must be available and able to work within our tight print deadline schedule. This position is in-office M-F.\nResponsibilities:\nConceptualize, create, source and/or commission engaging illustrations/photos/graphics for covers, editorial, web, social media, marketing and promotions.\nWork with sales team to create promotional materials and ads, share proofs for clients, as well as troubleshooting and archiving camera-ready ads provided by clients\nWork with editorial team for all page design and proofing process\nCollaborate with editorial and advertising to create weekly dummies for the publication based on ad revenue and content\nWork efficiently to meet tight deadlines and deliver high-quality results without compromising on creativity\nWork closely with pre-press every week and deliver flawless files for print\nWeekly meetings with the leadership team to forecast, strategize and plan for future issues and company goals\nMaintain awareness of current industry and technology standards, social media and design trends\nQualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or related field\n5+ years of professional work experience\nExpert level in Adobe Creative Suite (primarily InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat)\nExperience using Mac platform, DocsFlow, Google Suite and Dropbox\nStrong creative and conceptual thinking, typography and design skills\nExperience working with and commissioning freelance illustrators, photographers and other vendors\nProvide art direction and thoughtful critique\nProven experience with print media and process\nDesired experience with illustration and photography\nStrong project management skills, prioritization, organization, and ability to efficiently multi-task\nClear verbal and written communication\nCollaborate across teams to produce impactful local journalism\nExhibit a deep interest in current affairs and local news, arts, culture and events\nPortfolio of work required\nTo apply:\nPlease send résumé with two references, a cover letter and a link to portfolio to hiring@eugeneweekly.com\nPosition is open until filled.\nEugene Weekly is the alternative to the daily mainstream media.
