This role is responsible for managing the full pre-order lifecycle of engineered power distribution solutions, including low- and medium-voltage switchgear, PDUs, RPPs, busway systems, and other mission-critical electrical infrastructure.\nYou will develop accurate, compliant, and competitive proposals that align with customer specifications, industry standards, and LayerZero’s manufacturing capabilities, ensuring seamless transition from concept to execution.\nRequirements:\nPrimary Duties:Proposal Development & Strategy\nCustomer Inquiry Ownership: Serve as the primary technical contact for incoming RFQs related to power distribution systems for data centers, industrial facilities, and other critical environments.\nSales Partnership: Collaborate closely with outside sales to define bid strategy, positioning LayerZero solutions for technical and commercial success.\nElectrical Take-Offs: Review electrical one-lines, plans, and specifications to perform detailed take-offs for switchgear, PDUs, transformers, busway, and related components.\nSpecification Review: Analyze project specs to ensure compliance with UL standards, NEC requirements, and customer requirements; develop Compliance/Deviation documentation.\nSolution Engineering: Select and configure appropriate LayerZero products, ensuring system performance, reliability, and scalability for mission-critical applications.\nSystem Configuration & ERP Management:\nProject Setup: Create and manage project files in ERP/quoting systems (e.g., eBOSS or equivalent).\nProduct Configuration: Configure custom-engineered electrical equipment including: Low/medium voltage switchgear, Power Distribution Units (PDUs), Remote Power Panels (RPPs), Busway and tap boxes\nDocumentation Control: Maintain organized records of drawings, specifications, revisions, and communications.\nOrder Alignment: Validate that configured solutions match purchase orders and customer expectations prior to order entry.\nPricing, Proposal & Customer Support:\nProposal Development: Coordinate internal costing and supplier pricing to build detailed, professional proposals.\nTechnical Support: Act as a subject matter expert for both sales teams and customers, answering technical questions and supporting design changes.\nRevision Management: Manage scope changes and update proposals accordingly throughout the sales cycle.\nPurchase Order Review: Verify terms, scope, and technical requirements on customer POs; resolve discrepancies proactively.\nProject Hand-Off & Execution Support:\nInternal Kickoff: Lead project handoff meetings with engineering, project management, and operations teams.\nSubmittal Preparation: Develop and deliver comprehensive submittal packages including drawings, datasheets, and compliance documentation.\nEngineering Support: Provide technical clarification and support during submittal review and production phases.\nProject Continuity: Assist Project Managers in addressing customer comments, change orders, and technical inquiries.\nQualifications:\nEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred) or related field\nElectrical Expertise: Strong understanding of power distribution systems, Familiarity with NEC, UL (e.g., UL 891, UL 1558), and industry standards\nTechnical Skills: Ability to read and interpret single-line diagrams, schematics, and construction drawings, experience configuring engineered-to-order electrical equipment\nSystems Experience: Familiarity with ERP/CRM or quoting systems (e.g., eBOSS or similar)\nDetail Orientation: High level of accuracy in configuration, pricing, and documentation\nCommunication: Strong collaboration skills with internal teams and external customers\nTime Management: Ability to handle multiple RFQs and deadlines in a fast-paced environment\nMinium of 2 + years of relatable job experience\nPreferred Experience:\nExperience in data center infrastructure, mission-critical power systems, or industrial electrical distribution\nPrior work with switchgear manufacturers or power solutions providers\nExposure to custom-built or engineered-to-order products\nWhy This Role Matters at LayerZero:\nAt LayerZero Power Systems, the Application Engineer directly impacts project success by ensuring every solution is:\nTechnically sound\nFully compliant\nOptimized for manufacturability\nDelivered with speed and accuracy\nThis role is essential in driving growth, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence across all projects.
