Assists in the design and modeling of tools in support of machining and qualification processes.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:\n· Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T). Understanding 'Close Tolerance' work.\n· Programs mills and or lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.\n· Creates NC programs from the 3D models for manufacturing the designed tools.\n· Prepares geometric layout using computer-assisted drafting software to show location of reference points and direction of cutting paths.\n· Compares encoded printout with original program sheet to assure accuracy of machine instructions.\n· Revises program to eliminate instruction errors or omissions.\n· Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three and four jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating fixtures, tools and parts.\n· Loads feed mechanism/machining table by lifting stock into position.\n· Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces; adhering to international standards. Inspection of completed parts as machine runs.\n· Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.\n· Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.\n· Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.\n· Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.\n· Documents actions by completing production, quality logs and shop traveler (planning).\nQualifications:\n· Competent and capable to read and interpret Blue Prints, have strong conceptual skills, be open minded and supportive to Continuous Process Improvement.\n· Have the necessary verbal communication skills, functional and technical Skills, be familiar with most type of machine controls/instrumentation knowledge, and understand that creating and building own tooling is mandatory.\n· Be attentive to all details, using sound judgment, have been exposed to a working knowledge of composite materials.\n· Proven experience with MasterCam required.\n· Must be able to do set-ups if required.\nSolidWorks, Catia and 5 Axis a Plus!\n· In order to comply with U.S. government regulations applicable to this position, all applicants must be either a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., as defined in 8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(20) or a “protected individual”, as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)\n· Offer of employment will be contingent on completion of background check and a drug screening.\n· Must be able to work off shifts if needed\nEducation:\n· Minimum Education Required: High School Diploma or graduation from certified technical school.
