This role is a great opportunity to develop a versatile career in evaluation services within the building and construction industry.\n\nPosition Overview\nThe Project Engineer is responsible for all aspects of code compliance evaluations and supporting clients through product development, testing, and certification. The Project Engineer manages projects from product sampling and witness manufacturing through final certification documentation, ensuring delivery within client budgeted timelines. The position requires travel of at least 25% of the time.\n\nShift / Schedule\nMonday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.\n\nSalary & Benefits\nCompensation is based on factors such as skill, experience, and qualifications. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k) with company match, generous PTO, tuition reimbursement, and more.\n\nWhat You’ll Do\n\nDevelop in‐depth knowledge of building codes and related product standards through research and review, including witnessing of testing at the laboratory.\n\nAssume responsibility for project tasks and establish client commitments with follow‑through.\n\nReview and thoroughly understand contract requirements and document any deviations.\n\nCommunicate directly with clients on task status, required information, and completion dates.\n\nCoordinate with the testing laboratory to ensure smooth client transitions between tasks.\n\nConduct off‑site, in‑person audits at manufacturing facilities, leading audits, communicating requirements, and documenting all phases of production and quality control.\n\nDevelop detailed audit reports documenting details gathered during audits.\n\nCreate factory audit manuals derived from audit reports.\n\nDevelop test plans and evaluation plans based on research findings.\n\nTravel domestically and internationally to various manufacturing locations.\n\nPerform other work as required.\n\nMinimum Requirements & Qualifications\n\nB.S. Degree in Engineering or a closely related field of physical science.\n\nTechnical competence to effectively communicate test procedures, specifications, and results with customers, with diplomacy for challenging compliance issues.\n\nAbility to work individually and within a team.\n\nStrong research, documentation, record‑keeping, and technical writing skills.\n\nAbility to understand and apply new test methods and procedures for assigned projects.\n\nExpected to travel as business needs dictate.\n\nValid driver's license with reliable driving record (required).\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nPassing of Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE) or Engineer‑in‑Training (E.I.T.) designation.\n\nKnowledge of construction material characteristics, manufacturing techniques, supply sources, and engineering principles.\n\nKnowledge of U.S. Building Codes, applicable fire standards, building design and construction, and modern construction materials and methods.\n\nDrug‑Free Workplace\nIntertek is a drug‑free workplace.
