If you meet the qualifications below, we encourage you to apply today.Employment Type: Part-Time (3 days in office 8 hours) Schedule: Hybrid (in-office and remote flexibility) Location: Long Beach, CA Hourly: $25-$35 per hourGeneral ResponsibilitiesMaintains knowledge of and responsibility for a variety of areas, including but not limited to payroll, employee retirement, workers compensation, tax reporting, general ledger and labor laws;Ensures that payroll functions are carried out accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with legal requirements and sound financial management principles and practices;Processes accurate and timely bi-weekly payroll for exempt and non-exempt employeesPrepares and processes a variety of payroll-related documents, off-cycle payrolls, final checks, and manual adjustmentsBalance and reconcile payrolls, including garnishments and 401(k) administrationEnsures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax and wage and hour regulationsManages payroll tax filings, payments, and other required payroll reportingPartners with Accounting on monthly payroll close and payroll auditsServes as the primary point of contact for employee payroll and 401(k) questionsIdentifies opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, and system efficienciesAcquires and applies in-depth knowledge of complex payroll and related system functionsPerforms other payroll-related duties and ad hoc projects as assignedPosition RequirementsEquivalent to graduation from high school. Coursework at an accredited institution in accounting/or financial record keeping is desirable. Equivalent experience in a payroll specialist role is also considered.Minimum 2+ years of payroll experience in a fast-paced, multi-state environmentStrong knowledge of payroll tax laws and wage and hour regulationsAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft ExcelHigh attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalismProven ability to collaborate across HR and Accounting teamsDemonstrated proficiency with personal computers and keyboarding; ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time.P2S is an equal opportunity employer.
