Senior Estimator

Position OverviewOur client is a full-service mechanical contractor specializing in commercial and industrial HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, and electrical systems, providing a single-source solution for complex infrastructure needs. They are known for delivering high-quality installation, maintenance, and retrofit services while partnering closely with clients to ensure critical building systems operate efficiently and reliably over the long term.The team is seeking a Senior Estimator (Mechanical & Plumbing) to support preconstruction efforts across commercial, government, healthcare, pharma, and data center projects. This is a high-impact role with a clear path to leadership, where you will not only lead estimating efforts but also help shape the future of the preconstruction function as the organization continues to scale toward a more enterprise-level MEP operation.Lead mechanical (60% of business) and plumbing (40%) estimating efforts (no sheet metal scope)Perform full-cycle estimating:Takeoffs (digital preferred)Vendor and subcontractor coordinationProposal development and submissionManage and participate in bid reviews and strategy sessionsBuild and maintain strong client and vendor relationshipsLead negotiations and support business development effortsTransition awarded projects to the Project Management teamMaintain ongoing client engagement throughout lifecycleUtilize estimating software (e.g., Trimble) for digital takeoffs and bid developmentReview and interpret blueprints, specifications, and bid documentsOversee subcontractor engagement through platforms like Building ConnectedSupport and mentor junior estimators; potential to lead the estimating departmentRequired Qualifications10+ years of MEP estimating experienceStrong experience estimating full mechanical and plumbing scopes, including:HVAC equipmentPlumbing systemsHydronic and refrigerant piping systemsExperience managing or mentoring at least one estimatorProven ability to lead estimating efforts from bid through project handoffStrong client-facing experience:Relationship buildingVendor and subcontractor negotiationsProficiency in digital takeoff/estimating software (Trimble or similar)Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specificationsExperience leading bid reviewsClean criminal background (required)Preferred QualificationsPrior Project Management experienceExperience helping evolve estimating processes or building preconstruction functionsExposure to prefabrication or innovative construction methodsCompensation:$150,000 to $200,000 per year annual salary plus commissionExact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
