Manager, HR, Preconstruction, and company leadership\n\nOverview\n\nThe General Superintendent is a senior management role responsible for leading J2 Solutions' superintendent team, owning project schedule performance, and helping shield the Vice President of Operations from the majority of day-to-day jobsite challenges. This position exists to improve consistency, accountability, and execution across all active projects by proactively monitoring field operations, coaching superintendents, intervening early when risks arise, and raising the overall standard of field leadership across the company.\n\nThis role is primarily managerial in nature. While the General Superintendent may run select projects, especially during the early evolution of the role, the position is judged mainly on its ability to improve the performance of the superintendent group, strengthen schedule reliability, elevate safety and compliance, and solve field problems before they become larger operational burdens.\n\nWhat You'll Be Doing\n\nField Leadership and Superintendent Oversight\n\nProvide day-to-day leadership, direction, coaching, and accountability to all superintendents.\nMonitor all active field projects through superintendent communication, project reports, Procore logs, site visits, and direct follow-up.\nSet and reinforce expectations for field leadership, schedule ownership, communication, documentation, professionalism, and jobsite organization.\nConduct regular site visits with strong field presence, especially on larger projects and key repeat-client projects.\nReview superintendents' weekly paperwork, project logs, and reporting for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.\nConduct annual performance reviews for superintendents and support ongoing coaching, feedback, and improvement planning throughout the year.\nIf necessary, create, implement, and enforce PIP (Performance Improvement Plans) as needed for corrective action of personnel not meeting the company standards and procedures.\nSupport the hiring, onboarding, development, and offboarding of superintendents in coordination with HR and Operations leadership.\nApproval of PTO for superintendents and plan/ensure project coverage is thoughtfully managed in a proactive manner.\n\nSchedule Ownership and Project Execution\n\nOwn and improve overall field schedule performance across J2's active projects.\nReview daily schedules, look-aheads, milestone progress, and superintendent planning to identify risks early and help drive faster, more reliable project completion.\nWork closely with project managers and superintendents to improve sequencing, manpower planning, trade coordination, and recovery plans when projects drift off schedule.\nHelp ensure weekly subcontractor meetings, toolbox talks, and planning efforts are occurring consistently and are useful, organized, and action-oriented.\nDrive a culture where superintendents proactively manage schedules rather than react to delays after the fact.\nIdentify recurring schedule problems across projects and recommend improvements to field processes, training, planning habits, and accountability systems.\n\nField Problem Solving and Escalation Management\n\nServe as the first line of leadership for day-to-day jobsite issues arising from field conditions, subcontractors, logistics, staffing, coordination challenges, documentation gaps, or superintendent decision-making.\nResolve the large majority of field issues directly and correctly, while keeping the Vice President of Operations appropriately informed.\nEscalate more serious matters promptly and clearly, including direct-report disciplinary concerns, highly upset customers, jobsite injuries, near misses, threat of claims or lawsuits, and major subcontractor or vendor disputes.\nStep into troubled projects to stabilize communication, planning, field leadership, and schedule recovery efforts.\nHelp prevent “silent failures” by ensuring less-experienced superintendents surface issues early rather than assuming conditions are under control.\n\nSafety, Quality, and Healthcare Compliance\n\nReinforce company safety expectations and ensure superintendents are maintaining safe, compliant, and organized jobsites.\nSupport and monitor superintendent compliance with required healthcare construction protocols and documentation, including ICRA, PCRA, OSHA, Joint Commission, and AHCA-related requirements where applicable.\nSupport superintendents to plan and execute occupied-facility work, shutdowns, tie-ins, phased construction, and acute-care logistics with strong attention to risk and communication.\nPromote consistent field quality standards by verifying that work is installed in accordance with drawings, specifications, codes, and J2 expectations.\nParticipate in inspections, punch list efforts, closeout problem-solving, and field quality reviews as needed.\n\nProcore, Documentation, and Field Standards\n\nMaintain a strong working knowledge of Procore and help ensure superintendents use it consistently and effectively.\nMonitor the use and quality of daily logs, RFIs, observations, photos, and related field documentation.\nStandardize field paperwork, reporting habits, and jobsite administrative expectations across the superintendent group.\nAssist in developing and refining field SOPs, checklists, playbooks, and best practices that improve consistency and execution.\n\nTraining, Onboarding, and Team Development\n\nPlay a lead role in onboarding new superintendents after the initial HR and administrative orientation period.\nConduct ride-alongs, shadowing, field coaching, and expectation-setting for new superintendent hires during their first days in the field.\nProvide targeted training for superintendents as needed, especially in scheduling, healthcare/acute-care operations, documentation standards, communication expectations, and J2 field practices.\nServe as a coach and champion for the superintendent team while also holding clear standards of performance and accountability.\nPlan and conduct scheduled morale events for all superintendents.\n\nCommunication and Cross-Functional Coordination\n\nWork closely with Project Managers to support productive project execution and timely field decision-making, while recognizing that major escalations and final disputed decisions rest with the Vice President of Operations.\nCoordinate with the Production Department Manager as needed, while respecting the Production Department is not this role's direct report.\nSupport client confidence through visible field leadership when appropriate, while avoiding unnecessary client confusion or overcommunication.\nCommunicate clearly, professionally, and empathetically with internal teams, superintendents, and project stakeholders.\n\nPosition Requirements\n\nHigh school diploma required.\nCurrent OSHA 30-hour card required.\nStrong commercial construction background with significant experience in healthcare construction operations.\nDemonstrated experience working in acute care facilities and supporting AHCA-regulated projects and inspections.\nProven success in a superintendent or comparable field leadership role.\nStrong scheduling instincts and the ability to improve planning, sequencing, and field execution across multiple active projects.\nStrong proficiency with Procore and field documentation systems.\nAbility to read and interpret drawings, specifications, contracts, and field conditions accurately.\nStrong leadership presence with the ability to coach, train, mentor, and hold others accountable.\nExcellent verbal communication skills, sound judgment, emotional maturity, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.\nWillingness and ability to travel frequently between jobsites.\nCommitment to professionalism, customer awareness, safety, and continuous improvement.","company":"J2
