The position requires strong data-driven decision-making to implement measurable improvements and demonstrate effectiveness.\n\nPrimary areas of focus include capacity expansion through optimization of existing processes, quality and waste reduction initiatives, and cost improvement efforts. The individual must effectively manage multiple assignments of varying scope and complexity while collaborating across several levels of cross-functional teams.\n\nCore technical competencies include Mechanical Design and Troubleshooting of cam-driven equipment that integrates pneumatic, servo, and PLC-driven equipment/sensors.\n\nEssential Functions\n\nDesign and implement machine improvements.\n\nProvide design feedback and installation support for capital projects in collaboration with project engineering resources.\n\nDemonstrate strong proficiency in Mechanical Design and advanced troubleshooting techniques.\n\nTrain and coach maintenance personnel on sound maintenance principles and techniques.\n\nLead troubleshooting and upkeep of cam-driven equipment that integrates pneumatic, servo, and PLC-driven equipment/sensors.\n\nSupport manufacturing operations by identifying issues and driving resolution plans in a fast-paced production environment.\n\nApply standard engineering practices in equipment repair and vendor relationship management.\n\nCoordinate activities among equipment vendors, research and development partners, and internal functional teams.\n\nManage small to large-scale projects requiring extensive coordination to meet Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost objectives.\n\nPrepare capital appropriation requests and manage expenditures for improvement initiatives.\n\nMaintain knowledge of safety standards and collaborate with Environmental, Health, and Safety personnel to sustain a safe work environment.\n\nSupport and coordinate preventive maintenance activities aligned with data-based troubleshooting efforts.\n\nRecommend commercial vendors and materials to support projects, reliability improvements, and cost savings initiatives.\n\nEvaluate work scope to determine in-house fabrication versus external contracting; obtain quotations, select contractors, and oversee execution to completion.\n\nRecommend and implement capital equipment or process modifications, including installation, debugging, and production team training.\n\nMaintain all associated documentation including validations, operating procedures, preventive maintenance schedules, engineering change notifications, and bills of materials.\n\nDevelop comprehensive knowledge of equipment setup, adjustment, and improvement opportunities.\n\nAchieve budgeted cost reduction and efficiency targets.\n\nMaintain accountability for departmental program spending within approved limits.\n\nMentor and develop technical staff to promote continuous improvement.\n\nModify, redesign, and create technical drawings of tooling and fixtures.\n\nDemonstrate advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).\n\nPossess experience with CAD platforms, with preference for SolidWorks and AutoCAD (other CAD experience considered).\n\nPresent technical information clearly to nontechnical audiences (e.g., project reviews, technical training sessions, safety meetings).\n\nAdditional Responsibilities\n\nPerform other duties as assigned.\n\nSpend more than 70% of time on the production floor supporting troubleshooting, maintenance, and improvement projects.\n\nDirect support personnel in equipment modification, adjustment, removal, and installation.\n\nMay provide functional supervision of engineering staff to accomplish assigned objectives.\n\nEducation\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred. Equivalent practical experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.\n\nExperience\nAll experience levels will be considered.
