R. Tanner Construction is seeking a dependable and hardworking Asphalt Laborer to join our construction team. This position performs a variety of physical labor tasks associated with asphalt paving, roadway construction, grading, patching, and site preparation. The Asphalt Laborer works closely with paving crews, equipment operators, and foremen to support safe and efficient project completion throughout Arizona job sites.\n\nJob Duties\n\nAssist with asphalt paving, patching, sealing, grading, and roadway repair operations\n\nShovel, rake, lute, and spread asphalt materials as directed\n\nPrepare job sites by cleaning surfaces, removing debris, and setting traffic control devices\n\nSupport equipment operators and paving crews during asphalt placement and compaction\n\nOperate hand tools, power tools, compactors, jackhammers, and small construction equipment\n\nLoad and unload materials, tools, and equipment\n\nMaintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with company safety policies and OSHA regulations\n\nDirect traffic and assist with flagging operations when required\n\nPerform general labor duties including digging, lifting, carrying, and site cleanup\n\nWork outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme Arizona heat\n\nFollow supervisor instructions and complete assigned tasks efficiently and safely\n\nQualifications\n\nPrevious asphalt, paving, roadway, or construction labor experience preferred\n\nAbility to perform physically demanding work for extended periods\n\nAbility to lift and carry up to 50–75 pounds regularly\n\nReliable transportation to and from job sites\n\nBasic knowledge of construction safety practices preferred\n\nPhysical Requirements\n\nFrequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, lifting, and climbing\n\nAbility to work around heavy equipment and moving traffic\n\nAbility to tolerate exposure to heat, dust, asphalt fumes, and outdoor elements\n\nThis position works primarily outdoors on active construction sites throughout Arizona.
