Obeys all safety and environmental policies while performing work on the job site.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist the crane operator in the maintenance and proper set-up of the crane and accessory equipmentUnderstand and perform proper rigging techniques to ensure safe lifting of loadsControl movements of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spacesDismantle, maintain, and store rigging equipmentManipulate and hoist rigging lines to move or support materials, steel and concreteSelect gears, cables and shackles according to load size, facilities and work scheduleUtilize proper hand signals to give direction to workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and materialsProperly secure equipment to the trailer before operating truckInspect truck and trailer, turn in trucks inspection report daily to the supervisor, report any mechanical defects and documents maintenance or repairsPrepare all necessary rigging and equipment for next day's jobs before ending current shiftClean outside and cab of assigned vehicle dailyClean and inspect equipment in shop and yardAdhere to all company policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations creating a safe working environmentRegular and predictable attendance is requiredOther job duties as assignedRequirementsQualifications & SkillsProficient in oral and written communication skillsPass drug test and background checkAbility to work nights and weekendsEducation & ExperienceHigh School Diploma or equivalent required, technical degree preferredLicense & CertificationValid Driver's License with acceptable driving recordClass A CDL with acceptable driving record preferredRigger/Signalman Certifications preferredAWP/Forklift Certifications preferredOSHA 10 preferredWorking ConditionsThis position is performed primarily at active construction sites and other outdoor work environments. Employees must be able to work safely on uneven terrain and in varying weather conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, rain, wind, dust, mud, and other environmental conditions typical of heavy equipment and construction operations. The position requires the ability to drive during daytime and nighttime hours and in all weather conditions as needed. Operators must maintain constant situational awareness in dynamic work environments, remaining alert to the activities of employees, contractors, pedestrians, stationary equipment, and moving vehicles and heavy equipment to ensure safe operations. Frequent walking on uneven or unstable surfaces, including natural ground, is required. Employees must be able to safely climb on and off trucks, cranes, and other heavy equipment, as well as access elevated work areas using steps, ladders, or handholds.
