Structural EngineerWe are seeking a Structural Engineer to design and support industrial facility projects from concept through construction. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise and the ability to collaborate across disciplines.Responsibilities:Responsible for developing detailed design packages, providing engineering procurement and field technical support to implement those designs, and providing expertise for troubleshooting and technical assessments of plant systems in various client facilities.Perform structural design and analysis for structural steel buildings, reinforced concrete buildings and structures, pipe supports, connections, and foundation systems.Design support involves the preparation of planning documents such as cost-estimating bills of material and labor-hour estimates, statements of work design criteria, and detailed design engineering deliverables including calculations, construction specifications, drawings, datasheets, and design specifications.Engineer will perform walkdowns in the existing plant facilities in order to generate design documents and provide field support to craft personnel. Field troubleshooting support of existing systems will be required to inform design for corrective actions.Review and approve shop drawings; ensure construction is in accordance with plans, specifications, and good construction practices.Manage project requirements, including extraction of requirements from higher level design criteria, the definition of applicable functional and operational requirements, flow-down to design documents & procurement specifications, and verification matrix activities prior to equipment startup.Participate in cross-discipline model reviews and design reviewsPerform technical evaluations to disposition non-conformances, respond to request for waivers/deviations, and manage engineering change packages.Provide direction to designer/drafters.Perform peer-review or formal design verification of design output documents.Promote a professional code of conduct and ethical behavior.Provide technical direction and trouble-shooting skills.Education and Minimum Qualifications:P.E. License – Civil or Structural Engineering, State of TennesseeBachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering from an Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC)4 - 12 years of experience with design/specification of structural systems and components.Experience participating in multi-discipline (i.e. mechanical, electrical, etc.) design efforts and producing structural packages, including structural drawings, specifications, calculations, etc.Strong understanding of structural analysis and design software, including RISA 3D, STAAD.Pro, RAM Structural System, or similar programs.Ability to develop and interpret computational models for steel, concrete, and foundation systems, and to validate results against hand calculations and engineering judgment.Proficient knowledge of applicable codes and standards (AISC, ASCE, ACI, etc.).Demonstrated ability to work in a project team environment and communicate well with other disciplines, customers, and stakeholders. IE Group is a hybrid workforce and collaborative use of communication tools is necessary.Ability to perform work duties to defined project schedules.Successful drug screening.Must be a US Citizen.Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge, if needed.Design and construction of industrial facilities.Experience in design and construction of major capital projects.Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of federal codes and specifications (Unified Facilities Criteria, SpecsIntact).Proficiency with computer-aided drafting and Building Information Modeling (BIM) software, including AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, or similar platforms.Experienced in performing interdisciplinary coordination and resolving technical issues during design developmentCompetent in executing engineering work under ASME NQA-1 quality requirements.Location:East Tennessee Area, focused in Knoxville, TN or Tri-Cities, TN.Travel Requirements:Up to 10% potential travel, as needed. Clearance Requirements:Preferred, not required. Candidate must be willing and able to apply for a clearance upon hire.Work Hours:A Full time, 40-hour work week is scheduled. Each workday has a 30-minute lunch break (unpaid).
