TITLE: Crossing GuardQualificationsApplicants MUST be able to work between the hours of 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. AND 3 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (each week)High school diploma or GEDMust be at least 18 years oldMust pass vision and hearing test and/or other required examinations including drug screeningMust be accessible before and during school hours by phone to respond to scheduling changesPass a background checkReport to assignments on time and perform assigned duties for the full durationBe willing to work in inclement weather and/or other adverse conditionsBe willing and able to wear issued uniformHave reliable transportation to report to assigned locations within a 1-hour notification periodREPORTS TO: School principal and Coordinator of School Safety. SUPERVISES: N/AJOB GOAL: To direct pedestrian crossings and ensure the safety of children and school community members while remaining alert to traffic hazards. This job requires punctuality and remaining at work location until the conclusion of assignment for when other direction is provided by the building principal. Performance ResponsibilitiesThis position provides safe crossing of school children, pedestrians, and control of traffic at designated crossings within Kent County, MarylandContacts include school children and other pedestrians to issue instructions, such as when to proceed /stop; police officers to report motorists who do not comply with traffic laws; and school officials to report children and motorist who fail to obey instructions of the employeesDirect, routine assistance is provided to pedestrians and/or vehicles at busy intersectionsWork is performed independently with periodic checks by police officers at the crossing to which the employee is assignedTypically work hours are between the hours of 8:15 a.m. and 9 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. and 3:45 p.mTERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Daily as assigned. SALARY LANE: $16 hourlyBARGAINING UNIT: N/AFLSA STATUS: Exempt
