Senior Merchandiser

The Senior Merchandiser will work closely with Planning, Sales, and the VP of Merchandising to ensure proper product brand strategy. You’ll build overarching assortment architecture with an emphasis on specific brand, retailer, and distribution levels. This role requires someone who demonstrates effective collaboration across all departments. This person will articulate the product strategy to the team, create line plans aligned with company goals and market trends, understand market analysis, strategic product planning, brand positioning and product life cycle. You will play a key part in identifying product opportunities with a retail/cost strategy to maximize sales and profitability.Responsibilities:Market Analysis: Research and monitor industry trends and consumer behavior to anticipate demand shifts and buying patterns, leveraging insights for successful product lines. Understand the retail landscape, and deliver brief on market segmentation by price, silhouette, and fabrication.Strategic Direction: Define and execute merchandising strategies that align with company objectives, market trends, and brand strategy. Analyze & capitalize on KPI’s Tracked by the Planning Team. Identify wins & create strategies to maximize them. Mitigate losses and identify opportunities for growth.Product Assortment Strategy: Make informed recommendations regarding product assortments, color, and pricing strategies based on market intelligence, sales data, and consumer insights.Merchandising Plans: Develop seasonal merchandising plans and comprehensive line plans for brand, ensure alignment with customer needs, and corporate goals. This should include channel planning, product flow, and pricing strategies.Reporting and Presentations: Generate reports and summaries for design directors, leadership and stakeholders, present seasonal market intelligence to buyers in collaboration with design, sales, and planning teams.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with design, product development, marketing, planning, and sales teams to establish milestone meeting dates and fulfill internal, retailer, and licensor requirements. Utilize this collaboration to achieve seamless execution of merchandising strategies.Key Account Relationships: Attend product meetings with key accounts to gather early feedback and influence product range development.Tailored Programs: Identify range gaps and drive growth with key account partners through tailored (SMU) merchandising programs that meet financial objectives.Communication: Clearly articulate overall product strategy to stakeholders across the organization. Effectively present product performance reviews.Develop & Maintain Effective Relationships: Provide motivational partnership with entire team, Sales, Production, PD, Planning, Design and Marketing to ensure Brands strategies and goals are met.Sample Management: Co-manage the sample process and timeline with Product Development for critical market week deadlines, ensuring designs meet cost targets.Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Merchandising or related field6-8 years’ Merchandising experience, covering product developmentStrategic thinker who can build strong partnerships with internal cross-functional teams, vendors, and licensorsAbility to thrive in a multi-tasked fast-paced environmentExperience in all facets of concept, design, product development and merchandisingProduct driven with high awareness of the customer, the competition relative to product/quality/value relationship and fashion trendsExcellent judgement skills, strong decision maker, and the ability to quickly establish credibility within the organizationSolid analytical, presentation and communication skillsPossess a combination of business sense and artistic awarenessExcel, Illustrator, MS Word, PowerPoint, PLMAbility to travel 10-15%Annual salary starting at $100,000.The disclosed salary range is commensurate with experience and does not reflect the total compensation package.
