You'll design and build security systems from the ground up, automate security workflows, protect sensitive data and production environments, and contribute to core infrastructure when needed.The ideal candidate is someone who started their career as a strong software engineer and developed deep expertise in security and infrastructure along the way.What You'll DoDesign and build security infrastructure across AWS and GCP from the ground upDevelop custom security systems and internal tooling rather than relying solely on off-the-shelf security productsBuild automated systems for security detection, incident response, and remediationProtect sensitive data pipelines, production infrastructure, and AI-related workflowsIdentify security risks and design scalable technical solutions to address themIntegrate security controls and checks directly into engineering and development workflowsPartner closely with software and infrastructure engineers to build secure systems without slowing down developmentContribute to core infrastructure and platform engineering projects outside of security initiativesHelp establish security architecture, practices, and technical foundations as the company scalesWhat We're Looking For4–7 years of professional engineering experienceStrong software engineering background, ideally with experience in backend, infrastructure, platform, or distributed systemsHands-on experience building security systems or security tooling from 0→1Strong programming skills in Python, Go, TypeScript, or similar languagesExperience working with AWS and/or GCPExperience with Docker, containers, Kubernetes, or similar infrastructure technologiesStrong understanding of cloud infrastructure, access controls, authentication/authorization, networking, and production systemsExperience automating security or infrastructure workflowsAbility to independently take an ambiguous problem from architecture → implementation → deploymentStrong engineering judgment and willingness to work across security and infrastructureWhat Will Make You Stand OutExperience at a high-growth technology or VC-backed startupExperience working on security infrastructure at companies such as cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, developer tooling, or AI companiesExperience building internal security platforms, detection systems, security automation, or incident-response toolingExperience securing sensitive data pipelines or AI/ML infrastructureExperience integrating security directly into CI/CD and developer workflowsStrong systems/distributed systems engineering experienceExperience working in an early-stage environment where you have had significant ownershipWhat This Role Is NotThis isn't primarily a:SOC/Security Operations roleGRC or compliance roleSecurity auditing roleVendor-management roleTool-administration roleTraditional DevSecOps role focused mainly on configuring existing productsWe're looking for an engineer who builds security, not someone who simply operates security tools.Disclaimer:ARM GROUP is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.
