There are many reasons to build your career at Carter's.\n\nJob Description\n\nMaintenance Apprentice - 85H055\n\nEssential Job functions (Tasks, duties and responsibilities most important for the job)\n\nWork with experienced techs planning and coordinating the maintenance and repair of conveyors, machines and equipment.\n\nComplete necessary training on basic maintenance functions\n\nEnsuring that all work is done in accordance with OSHA regulations and Carter's safety rules\n\nMaintaining good housekeeping and working well with management, peers and subordinate employees to maximize productivity while minimizing employee conflict\n\nMaintenance of facility property, not limited to building grounds, HVAC, generators, sprinkler systems, security systems, etc.\n\nSEC SECONDARY FUNCTIONS (IF APPLICABLE - ANY DUTIES NOT CONSIDERED ESSENTIAL)\n\nOther tasks as assigned.\n\nknowledge, skill and ability requirements-minimum compentencies required for job\n\nMust be able to use all routine industrial hand tools\n\nMust have electrical knowledge\n\nMust be able to read and use tape measures, levels, etc.\n\nMust be able to pass equipment training including scissor lift, stock picker, reach truck, pallet truck, and turret truck\n\nMust have a valid driver's license and a good driving record\n\nMust have high school diploma or GED\n\nMinimal level of maintenance experience\n\nMust be able to lift 45 pounds individually and 100 pounds with team assistance\n\nMust be able to walk and climb stairs\n\nMust be able to use ladders\n\nMust be available to work 14 consecutive days in a row during peak season\n\nComply with Blackout Periods as determined by Management\n\nHoliday scheduled to be decided by Management based upon forecast\n\nNote:This position description is not intended to be all-inclusive. The duties described may be changed or reassigned at the discretion of management, and the employee may be required to perform duties that are not listed in the position description.\n\nprior work experience and educational requirements\n\nHigh school diploma or a GED preferred, not required.\n\nSix months automated distribution center experience preferred.\n\nPHYSICAL and Work DEMANDS\n\nMust be available to work in a multi-channel, multi-shift distribution environment, flexible to work different shifts and extended hours based upon business needs.\n\nMust be able to stand and work for long periods including daily overtime, holidays and overtime as required.\n\nRequires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward.\n\nUse approved equipment to access freight and equipment in elevated areas.\n\nMay work with substances that require special handling.\n\nMust be able to repetitively lift cases weighing up to forty pounds.\n\nMust be able to work in varying to extreme temperatures.\n\nHoliday schedule to be decided by Management.\n\nMust be available to work consecutive days in a row (for example 14+ days).\n\nComply with Blackout Periods (no vacation or personal time allowed) as determined by Management.\n\nCarters is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
