Millwright / Pump Mechanic

Job DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY: Performs semi-skilled, skilled, and administrative work in the repair and maintenance ofmechanical equipment such as wastewater lift stations, storm water pumps and waterpumps and Barge Fuel and Water pumps. Must be able to disassemble, diagnose and repair pumps and rotating equipment back to OEM specifications. In addition must be able to align pumps and motors and perform diagnostics on pump performance.RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: Works injury free, achieves an injury-free working environment, and maintains the highest Health, Safety and Environmental (Q.A.) standards in our industry. Strives for continuous improvement in the efficiency of production of product. Adheres to all company Quality and Q.A. standards. Disassembles and assembles product to customer and industry standards and specifications. Applies traceability, performs 100% inspection & documentation, and utilizes prevention/detection method for every task. Inspect, diagnose and perform major and minor repair work on motors, pumps,hydraulic equipment, compressors, controls, valves and related equipment. Perform routine and preventative maintenance on pumps, motors, engines andcompressors. Repair various wastewater lift stations, storm drain stations, and water transfer pumps as well as Barge and shipboard water and fuel pumps. Operates a variety of diagnostic instruments and a variety of hand, electric, andAir-driven tools. Tests, troubleshoots, services and repairs mechanical equipment. Inspects, adjusts and replaces necessary units and related parts in the performance ofrepair and maintenance work. Assist in Fabricating and machining and modifying parts and equipment as necessary. Evaluates status of mechanical equipment, and performs and assist with schedules needed repairs. Conducts various analyses and inspections of mechanical systems to determine themost cost-effective means of maintenance, repair or replacement. Provides emergency field assistance to disabled equipment as needed and appropriate. Prepares reports and other specialized maintenance records of equipment and mechanical equipment. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Minimum 2 year experience maintaining and repairing pump systems. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Can use and understand inspection tools and interpret blueprints. Mechanical and mathematical knowledge preferred. Ability and desire to work overtime and weekends as required. SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, ETC: Effective writing and communication skills Capable of managing and completing multiple tasks accurately and expeditiously Detail-oriented Close attention to accuracy Operate a forklift Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize work independently and establish goals and objectives with little or no supervision Must have good math skills Must have the ability to recognize when there is a problem and communicate the existence of a problem with expedience.
