The role may include owning specific feasibility studies and developing the core technical deliverables that inform customer proposals and project direction, including system sizing, system architecture and platforms, conceptual layouts, single-line diagrams, PV production modeling, and Homer-based microgrid modeling. This position works closely with Sales, Estimating, Systems Engineering, Product Engineering, Project Engineering, and external partners to evaluate project viability, shape system concepts, and support successful proposal execution. Other work may include site visits and continuous improvement of tools, templates, and internal processes.\n\nThis role reports to the Solutions and Estimation Manager. This role has no direct reports. This role is hybrid or remote to BoxPower HQ in Grass Valley, CA.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nLead technical feasibility studies for prospective BoxPower microgrid projects.\n\nSupport Sales on customer opportunities, RFPs, RFQs, and early-stage solution development.\n\nSystem sizing, architecture, and platforms.\n\nDevelop conceptual site layouts and equipment arrangements for microgrid systems.\n\nCreate and update electrical single-line diagrams for proposal and feasibility packages.\n\nIdentify opportunities for cost engineering of designs.\n\nPerform performance modeling: PV production modeling to support energy estimates and system sizing.\n\nBuild and refine Homer microgrid models to evaluate system performance, dispatch strategy, and economics.\n\nCoordinate with internal subject matter experts and external vendors to validate technical assumptions and equipment selections.\n\nSupport cost estimation by translating technical concepts into scope, equipment, and design inputs.\n\nPrepare clear technical documentation and review materials for internal and external stakeholders.\n\nParticipate in site visits and field assessments as needed to inform system design and project risk evaluation.\n\nImprove templates, workflows, and modeling/design standards to increase team efficiency and consistency.\n\nRequired Qualifications\n\nBachelor's degree in electrical or civil engineering or related technical field.\n\n3+ years of experience in system design, sales engineering, applications engineering, or distributed energy projects.\n\nExperience developing technical feasibility studies and proposal support materials.\n\nWorking knowledge of solar PV, Battery Energy Storage or Generator-based power systems. Microgrid experience a plus.\n\nProficiency creating layouts and electrical single-line diagrams.\n\nExperience with PV modeling tools and methods. PVsyst modeling experience a plus.\n\nExperience with energy modeling.
