You will oversee day‑to‑day environmental site management for fast‑paced manufacturing and high‑impact construction projects, and collaborate with federal, state, county, and local regulators.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nDevelop, implement, improve, and maintain environmental compliance programs supporting Falcon/Dragon, Raptor/Starship, and Starlink/Starshield teams site‑wide.\n\nOwn day‑to‑day environmental site management for fast‑paced manufacturing and high‑impact construction projects.\n\nImplement, enforce, and audit the site‑wide Soil Management Plan (SMP) to ensure all requirements are understood and followed by employees, contractors, and subcontractors.\n\nConduct monitoring and sampling required by the SMP, including volatile organic compounds via PID, methane monitoring, VOC air sampling per EPA Method TO‑15, dust mitigation, and other applicable monitoring.\n\nHandle waste sampling, profiling, and disposal of hazardous waste from construction projects.\n\nDevelop, maintain, and report on Hazardous Materials Business Plans (HMBPs).\n\nMaintain compliance with regulations from agencies such as the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC), Certified Unified Program Agency (CUPA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), California Air Quality Management Districts, Los Angeles County Sanitation District, Regional Water Quality Control Board, and other applicable bodies.\n\nReview new and proposed environmental laws and regulations; guide management and develop practical solutions.\n\nOperate and maintain compliance calendars, record‑keeping systems, and environmental tracking software; maintain site‑wide SMP and HMBPs.\n\nCoordinate and manage contractors for permitting, environmental testing, and assessments; review and maintain related reports and records.\n\nAssist in planning for changes in physical facilities, reviewing new/modified equipment and manufacturing/construction programs to meet regulatory and permitting requirements.\n\nEnsure appropriate allocation of resources to environmental requirements related to the SMP.\n\nDevelop and maintain positive relationships with regulators and work collaboratively with engineering, production, operations, and construction teams across sites.\n\nAssist the broader Environmental team with site operational compliance as needed.\n\nBasic Qualifications\n\n4+ years of professional experience in designing, developing, and executing environmental and regulatory compliance programs, preferably in manufacturing and/or construction environments.\n\nPreferred Skills and Experience\n\nBachelor’s degree in engineering with an emphasis in environmental engineering.\n\nExperience with environmental remediation and implementing all aspects of a site‑wide Soil Management Plan required by DTSC.\n\n6+ years of environmental and regulatory compliance experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment.\n\nCalifornia regulatory and environmental compliance experience.\n\nExperience working with agencies such as DTSC, CUPA, EPA, California Air Quality Management Districts, Los Angeles County Sanitation District, and Regional Water Quality Control Board.\n\nProficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).\n\nExperience with emergency response communication and incident management involving hazardous or non‑hazardous material releases to air, soil, and water.\n\nStrong written and verbal communication skills; experience handling highly technical data, interpreting and applying rules/regulations toward practical solutions.\n\nTrack record of successful collaboration in integrated team environments (interactions with engineers, managers, and regulatory agencies).\n\nAbility to handle multiple projects, prioritize work efficiently, and drive continuous improvement in high‑pressure environments.\n\nHighly self‑motivated with strong organizational skills.\n\nAdditional Requirements\n\nThis is not a remote or hybrid position and will require relocation if not already local to the Hawthorne, CA area.\n\nPosition occasionally requires the ability to work extended hours and weekends when needed.\n\nCompensation and Benefits\nPay Range:\nLevel1: $95,000.00 – $115,000.00\nLevel2: $110,000.00 – $135,000.00\n\nBase salary is one component of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
