DescriptionThe Chief Clinical Officer (CCO) is responsible for the planning, organizing, developing, and directing the hospital’s nursing services and other clinical functions. The CCO participates with the hospital’s governing body, management, medical staff and clinical leaders in the hospital’s decision making structures and processes and is responsible for developing and implementing plans for provision of patient care, patient care programs and policies and procedures that delineate how patient care needs are assessed and met by the institution. The Chief Clinical Officer speaks on behalf of the clinical and nursing services to the same extent that other hospital leaders speak for their respective disciplines or departments and exercises final authority over those associated with the provision of clinical treatment, and services. The Chief Clinical Officer performs such other duties as may be necessary in the best interest of the hospital and carries out those duties as well as other duties which may be specifically delegated to him/her by the Chief Executive Officer.QualificationsHolds a current state license and maintains license renewal in accordance with the standards of the State Board of NursingMeets all state specific education/competency requirements for Nursing Leader.Minimum of three years of progressive leadership experience that is comparable to the Chief Clinical Officer’s authority and responsibility, the education and experience of peer leadership positions and commensurate with the scope and complexity of the hospitalFive years experience of nursing care (critical care preferred), treatment experience with the complex medical, surgical patient population, and comprehensive acute medical and therapeutic/rehabilitative care managementAble to develop, plan, and implement programsExcellent communication skills, both interpersonal and writtenStrong leadership, managerial, and effective time management skills, as well as, profit/loss experience Functions independently in relation to decision making, planning, analysis, and problem resolution with input from appropriate leadersMust be able to read, write, and speak EnglishIntermediate computer skills
