This role requires advanced engineering expertise, documentation proficiency, design leadership, and cross-functional communication skills to support modernization, transformation, and operational excellence initiatives.\n\nQualifications:\n\nRequired Qualifications:\n\nCandidates must demonstrate hands-on engineering expertise in the following relational database technologies (on-prem and cloud):\n\nRelational Database Platforms\n\nMicrosoft SQL Server\nOracle Database\nPostgreSQL (on-prem and cloud variants)\nMySQL\nAmazon RDS / Azure SQL Database / Google Cloud SQL\n\nCloud Platforms\n\nAmazon Web Services (AWS)\nMicrosoft Azure\nGoogle Cloud Platform (GCP)\n\nCore Technical Competencies\n\nDatabase architecture and engineering design\nHigh Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR)\nPerformance tuning and query optimization\nBackup and recovery strategies\nDatabase security, encryption, and compliance\nMigration from on-prem to cloud and hybrid environments\nLinux and Windows server environments\nScripting and automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python)\nCI/CD integration for database deployments\n\nDesired Qualifications:\n\nDatabase containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)\nDatabase monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Redgate, OEM, Cloud-native monitoring)\nData replication and distributed systems\nData warehouse platforms (Snowflake, Redshift, Azure Synapse)\nETL frameworks and tools\nInfrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM, CloudFormation)\nMassively Parallel Processing database administration experience (MPP DBA)\nAnsible (or similar IT automation tools like Puppet or Chef)\nSupporting federal government compliance frameworks\nKnowledge of Zero Trust architectures\nSupporting mission-critical or high-transaction environments\nWhat you can expect from us:\nThe expected salary range within the Washington, DC metropolitan area is: $200,000 - 225,000. Final compensation is unique to each individual and will be determined based on factors such as experience, education, geographic location, and contractual requirements.
