This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about encapsulating business logic within the database layer and driving performance through advanced SQL techniques.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain complex stored procedures, functions, and triggers in PostgreSQL (PL/pgSQL)Translate business logic into efficient, reusable database-side codeOptimize queries and procedural logic for performance and scalabilityAnalyze and tune execution plans for high-performance workloadsBuild and maintain data processing pipelines using SQL and procedural logicImplement robust error handling, logging, and transaction management within proceduresCollaborate with application developers to ensure efficient integration with database logicDesign schemas and data models that support procedural workflowsManage schema changes and versioning of database objectsTroubleshoot and resolve database performance bottlenecksRequired Qualifications3-5+ years experience in backend or database developmentStrong hands-on experience with PostgreSQLDeep expertise in:PL/pgSQL (stored procedures, functions, triggers)Writing complex SQL (joins, window functions, CTEs)Query optimization and indexing strategiesTransaction handling and concurrencyExperience implementing business logic inside the database layerProficiency in at least one backend language (Python, Java, Node.js, Go, etc.)Strong debugging and performance tuning skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience designing large-scale systems where database procedures drive core workflowsFamiliarity with:PostgreSQL extensionsPartitioning and large dataset handlingReplication and high availability setupsExperience with cloud-managed PostgreSQL (AWS RDS, Azure, GCP)Exposure to ETL/data processing frameworksUnderstanding of API-to-database interaction patterns and ORM limitationsKey SkillsPL/pgSQL mastery (must-have)Advanced SQL & data manipulationQuery performance tuningData modeling & schema designDebugging procedural database codeTransaction & concurrency managementWhat Success Looks LikeBusiness logic efficiently implemented in database proceduresMinimal latency in complex data operationsWell-structured, reusable, and maintainable database codeSmooth integration between application and database layers
