In this key position, you will lead development and preliminary engineering efforts, assist project and estimating teams in developing project layouts, and provide technical guidance on equipment selections, site assessments, and grading analysis to determine the best solutions. Additionally, you will collaborate across departments to guide projects during detailed design phases, craft compelling proposals, and ensure that our projects not only meet but exceed industry standards and client expectations.\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES\nProject Development & Engineering:\nLead early-stage development on Renewables EPC opportunities, including site assessment and general system design.\nEnsure alignment with technical, regulatory, and budgetary requirements.\nConduct detailed engineering analysis to optimize design and create value engineering opportunities.\nPerform site assessment and grading quantification using internal and external engineering resources.\nProject Management:\nManage assigned active EPC projects during engineering and procurement phase.\nSupport procurement through development of technical bid packages.\nLead risk management activities with developed mitigation strategies.\nGuides WHC project's technical strategy and scope.\nEnsures engineering standards and timelines are met.\nUnderstand and manage engineering scope boundaries. (PV vs SCADA vs S/S, etc.)\nMonitor and control project scope to prevent creep.\nOversee design and document finalization.\nServe as the point of contact for technical queries from construction team. (Handoff to field engineering at construction).\nTechnical Procurement Support\nAid in resolving technical issues during procurement.\nReview and support technical bid clarification / resolution with vendors.\nSupport contract negotiations with technical insights.\nDevelop procurement timelines with key delivery milestones.\nSupporting Proposals and Estimating:\nSupport project proposals with review of technical specifications, geotechnical reports, project requirements.\nCollaborate with teams to tailor proposals to client needs and company strengths.\nConduct detailed cost analysis and recommendation on selection for engineered equipment (racking, inverters, cabling strategy)\nEvaluate vendor technical bids.\nEnsure bids meet design and engineering criteria.\nAdvise the project team on vendor selection.\nCoordinate between estimating, procurement, and scheduling teams to develop EPC project schedules.\nNote: In addition to these duties personnel are required to carry out such other duties as may be reasonably required in order to support the objectives of the company.\nPOSITION REQUIREMENTS\nQualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Renewable Energy, or related field).\nExperience\n3-5 years of direct experience in development or engineering of utility-scale solar (> 50MW) and/or BESS projects.\nSkills and Knowledge\nTechnical knowledge of solar site assessment, photovoltaic (PV) systems, battery energy storage systems, inverter technology, and grid integration.\nFamiliarity with project management principles, able to demonstrate involvement in managing projects with cross-functional teams.\nBasic proficiency in energy modeling software, CAD tools, and GIS.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities, demonstrated in a fast-paced, challenging project environment.\nGood communication and teamwork skills, capable of collaborating with various stakeholders.\nWORKING CONDITIONS\nThis position is based at our Woodlands, TX office.
