The role manages and works support tickets, responding to problems that impact users and restoring service in a timely manner.The Network Specialist also helps end users connect approved devices—such as laptops, phones, and tablets—to Vanderbilt Health's secure wireless network. In addition, the role supports the setup and maintenance of wireless equipment, performs coverage checks to confirm strong and reliable wireless access across facilities, and participates in the on-call rotation to help ensure uninterrupted support for critical wireless services.Key ResponsibilitiesResponsible for daily operational support, work Pegasus tickets. (100% - Tasks mentioned below are part of the daily operational support and working Pegasus tickets as needed)Work with Senior Network Specialists and the Engineers on wireless trouble tickets and escalations. Participate in On-call rotation. REQUIREMENTS:Some IT experience (networking, IT support, etc.) with an aptitude to learn & growNetwork+ or Cisco Certified Technician (CCT) certifications (preferred)Associates degree or equivalent experienceTechnical Capabilities Cable and Wiring Practices (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate knowledge of Cable and Wiring Practices in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Is attentive to existing Cable and Wiring Practices, and may recommend improvements to existing best practices within the work area. Voice and Data Moves (Advanced): Demonstrates the uppermost levels of expertise in applying the skill in challenging and complex situations. Often takes a lead role in highly pressurized situations when there is a need to achieve results. Consistently delivers products and services using the skill in a creative and imaginative manner while setting a standard for others. Contributes in the development of best practices for the organization. Network Design (Fundamental Awareness): Familiarity, training, direct exposure, past experience, or light experience in network design. Understands basic networking concepts and is familiar with major protocols. Network Troubleshooting (Novice): Demonstrates the ability to identify, locate, isolate, and resolve or repair difficult problems relating to products, processes, computers, communications devices, systems, cables and other equipment within scope of specialty. Able to make use of the major capabilities of the primary diagnostic tools and analyzers available. Capable of finding solutions and answers beyond the area of specialty. Stays with a problem until it is resolved. Escalates unresolved problems in a timely manner. Notifies vendors of problems which may affect others. Network Integration (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate Network Integration in practical applications of moderate difficulty.
